Since it is both the WiFi and ethernet connection, my response at this time would be to either have someone come over to look at the problem or to bring your laptop over to someone's house that is knowledgeable and willing to help you. Preferably a person a wireless router and an extra port so you can try the ethernet connection also.

That is how I handle connection problems in my area. First I go to their house to see if I can fix it and then we go to my house to work on it if I have no success. We have yet to have to go to my house.

Take your lap top up to Barns & Noble and see if you can connect there. Try getting on the internet and hopefully you have something else that requires a network connection such as Outlook etc. If you can connect there with no problem then you know your wireless is working.

Go home and first try a wired connection and see if that works. Much easier to trouble shoot something wired than wireless. Now try the internet just as you had it at Barns and see what the results are. If that does NOT work then try the other program (Outlook etc.) If the other program works then you know you have a good network connection and that you problem will be with either your browser or a Comcast setting.

After you get the wired connection working then and only then move over to wireless. One thing at a time.

I do believe that there may have been some other posts maybe over a year old regarding problems with Comcast and the internet let me look an see if I can find them.

I did some looking in the Computer Questions forum and came up with a couple of links that users were having problems with Linksys routers and they might help you. I also ran across a link to TV Computer Club Help page. Now this is a great site and is no longer shown on the Computer Club web site. I asked about it at one meeting and was told that keeping it up to date will all the latest hardware and software changes is a monumental task but it is a very good starting point for problem solving.

Anyone know how to get the LinkSys router to work with Comcast?

Where I came with it is that if the page that was reporting the "no connection" was locked in the cache files, it could reappear from there rather than go to a new page. It could have been a false report from a temporary internet file.

Default Thanks...But

Thanks for all the assistance. Unfortunatelly I am stuck in Kentucky right now and will not be able to get back to TV untill Late March. So I only have wifi connetions here. I do NOT have an ethernet or even a dial up connection here.
I am going to have to wait untill I get to TV to work this issue out. My Laptop is so screwed up I will probably need to get major help.

Thanks all again

OK, I am completely confused by this thread.

Lincoln...if you have no internet connection, how are you posting? If you're posting with the laptop in question, you do not have an internet connection problem. You simple have an issue with Internet Explorer, which was in your very first post. You said you were using AOL and last time I checked, you needed an internet connection to use AOL.

There could be a multitude of reasons IE will not connect, but if I were having the problem, I'd just reinstall IE. If that doesn't work, I'd download Firefox or Opera and forget about IE.

If I'm missing something, tell me what ??

Happy surfing
