Default Is This Possible?

I had a company from CT who took my money to clean all virus out of my computer and reload my drivers. They then transferred my call to India to people who I could hardly understand and who did not understand me. They were unable to fully fix my computer. After 2 days and many hours they did some of the job.
They worked remotely and I watched them remove many programs. I am now Missing my Windows Download Manager. I cannot get the drivers for many of my games and programs back. Any chance I can fix this, My puter is about 10 years old but until it got infected it did everything I needed it to.
Thanks in advance oh Computer gurus.

Most of the time you can restore your computer to an earlier time and get it to work good. I use Superantivirus.com and that works to get rid of viruses.

Salybow - respectfully suggest you bite the bullet and pay Jon Townsend 352-250-1686 to fix your computer and do it properly.

You can buy a brand new laptop or computer for $300-500 dollars.

I will never understand how/why some of us can let a total stranger, who calls us "blind" on the phone, and who does not speak 'American" English, talk us into letting them take control of our personal computers, install who-knows-what malware and ransom ware on it, delete "stuff" we paid good money to install because we wanted it on our computer, steal all our passwords, credit card and bank account info, as well as our email address lists, and then WE PAY THEM TO DO ALL THAT TO US!

How does that happen?

I know that recently The Villages has been a 'target zip code' for these kinds of scam calls. I have received them (four times now) myself. I always try to cooperate fully, ask them to hold on while I boot up my computer (which I tell them is not turned on at this time), warn them that it is old and slow so it may take a few minutes to boot, and then I put the phone aside (on speaker) so I can time how long they will wait until they give up and hang up! It makes for great entertainment for me (for free) and I can do other useful stuff while listening to the speaker phone.

We are Seniors now - rules are that we are allowed to have a Senior Moment once in awhile - but this is a little over the top.

As someone pointed out, you can get a great, brand new laptop for "chump change" nowadays - upgrade to new equipment! You will probably still want to spend a few more shekels with a local computer guru to transfer the "good" stuff from your old PC to the new one and help you get off on the right foot with your new PC. That would probably be money well spent.

I will never understand it either. But I was hooked up with them through a search to get my Brother Printer working again. So I am not a complete Arse just a half arse.

Computer is 10 years old... It's probably safe to say that it is time to move on to something new(er).. Especially at this point.

Sorry you got taken advantage of.. this happens more often than we'd like to think, and it's a real shame!
