Default How to remove a Corrupted Computer File

I purchased a new Tom Tom GPS Device several months ago for which I use the Lap Top with Vista to update the Tom Tom’s Navigation Data by connecting to the internet with the GPS plugged in to a USB Port

Several days ago, I tried to update Navigation Data for the Tom Tom GPS and got message back on the Lap Top that the GPS Program does not function, so I followed instructions from the Tom Tom web site to download the Tom Tom program and reinstall it on the PC.
When I tried to reinstall the Tom Tom program, it will not reinstall stating that a file named (HomeBase.dll) is in use stopping the program reinstallation.

How do I remove this corrupted computer file from the Lap Top v so I can reinstall the Tom Tom Program and funtioning on the Lap Top?

Go to the control panel and uninstall the program from there and then try installing it again.

This is not really a corrupted file. It is simply a file that is already running that the install program is trying to install. Could be from a previous install attempt. You can try as the other poster said or you can simply go to the Task Manager and find the process and stop (kill) it and then do your install.

Any of the suggestion about will work. You could always restore the computer to a date before you installed the program. I do this when I can't locate the corrupted file. By the way---Does the Tom Tom have updates Village info such as Buttonwood and Pennecamp? Last time I looked at my Garmen - Buttonwood was still not in their date base.

To remove a corrupt computer file... vote it out of (the) office.

Here's some good advice:

Tom's suggestion seems to be the best way to go.

Pt's suggestion is for the birds. HA HA
She is really a hoot!
