I think my iPad3 is dying! Last night, I charged it all night and it was at 38% this morning! If it's fully charged, it's down to about 30% in a couple of hours whether I am using it or not. I have charging cords all over the house! I take Board Minutes on my iPad and have to leave it plugged in so it doesn't die on me.
My iPad3 has cellular data, 32GB of memory and a Kensington keyboard that I love. I have laptops but I use my iPad all the time. I love that my iPad and iPhone are compatible with each other -- especially with contacts, notes, etc. My questions are: is there a new iPad coming out? Do I really need 32GB of memory and cellular data. Cellular Data. I haven't reinstated the cellular data in several months but it comes in very handy when we are traveling. I also help 4 seniors over 86 and spend a lot of time in hospital and doctor's waiting rooms! Sometimes their WiFi leaves a lot to be desired! Any idea or suggestions will be appreciated. If I need a new iPad, I will probably buy it at the Apple Store in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I have an iPad 3 also. Still works good, but that generation is a bit slow...I'd love to upgrade, just can't really justify it yet. That being said...
I use mine with WiFi only. Have never used cellular at all. Even traveling, there's usually WiFi at a hotel/motel I'm staying at. Or if I really need it, I can always find it at a coffee shop or other similar place. Or...often the best option once I discovered it...set up a WiFi hotspot on your iPhone. Just activate the Personal Hotspot under Settings on your iPhone. ![]() Not sure though about your charging issue. But if you bite the bullet and get a new iPad, it's likely 32GB will be about the smallest amount you can get. |

I have an iPad and iPhone 6plus. I use iPad at home, but 6 Plus is plenty big to take to doctor offices, read books take on cruises. You might want to consider the larger iPhone.

You could live without cellular data on your iPad by using the Personal Hotspot on your iPhone (under SETTINGS, CELLULAR) for those few times you aren't within WIFI range on your iPad. It basically uses your cellular data on your iPhone to turn the iPhone into a WiFi hotspot and works pretty well.

I find especially the brightness can run my battery down in a hurry.

If you haven't rebooted recently, reboot.
The latest iPad Air2 is only available in 16 or 64 GBs. The iPad Pro starts with 32 GBytes. You can find an older iPad Air with 32 GBs on the refurbished list on the Apple website. Refurbished Apple gear is a good deal - they carry the normal 1 year warranty and have new batteries. Unless you store a lot of videos on your iPad you can probably get by with 16 GBs. You can do to "Settings>General>About" and see just how much of your current 32 GBytes of storage you are using. Regardless, additional storage is usually a good idea. If you have a battery issue then Apple will replace your battery for $99. They actually send you a refurbished iPad with a new new battery. You can also probably find a repair shop to replace it or do it yourself. I am not sure how much effort if takes for an iPad3 but it took me all of 10 minutes to replace the battery in my iPhone. Regarding cellular capability, that really depends on where you use it. Quote:

Yes it should....I might depend on which carrier you have...I know AT&T and I believe Verizon support this...not sure about the others. If you find it in your settings, it's supported.

Someone sent me a PM to check my charging block. I think they are on to something about the charging! They said the 10V was for the iPad. Sure enough, the block that charges the fastest is 12V. I will have to check the other ones out!

Apple USB chargers put out 5V. The amperage may vary but it is still 5V.

If you are near apple store, they toubleshoot walkins free, at least they do in orl.
Turning off bluetooth when not using will save battery. Phone charger is very slow, as you discovered. Are you here yet? |

The difference between an iPhone and iPad USB charger is the iPad charger puts out about 2x the amperage. You can charge your iPad with either but it will take approximately 2x longer with the iPhone charger. Regardless, if it doesn't charge overnight then something is wrong.
