We just pruchased a Vizio TV (beautiful picture!) that's equiped with LED technology. We have Comcast for our TV and for our internet. Does anyone know how to use the LED capabiity on the TV that's hooked up through cable? I'm pouring over the books...and getting no where!

Do you mean HD (high definition)? Usually you pay the provider a little extra per month and they send you a signal that includes an HD quality picture for those stations that are listed as HD.
On your TV when you look at the list of stations, it should show by the name of the station which ones provide HD, for example A&EHD

With your new television, you might now need a high definition box from Comcast in order to receive the HD channels. They do look good on a Vizio LED tv...I have one, also. Remember, there will be additional costs for high def tv, but the picture is really good soooo, ENJOY!

Since Comcast recently switched from analog to digital, I've seen an improvement in pictures and sound, plus more channels, even on my older sets that are not HD and now have the free DTA's and remotes provided by Comcast.

I also have 2 Vizio LCD's. One 37" and one 52". The HD picture on these tvs is too good to be true. I've often said as I watch a sports event that it is so much better being in front of the Vizio than to actually be at the game.
I have Dish satellite.

Do we need to add a digital gizmo from Comcast in order to continue getting our channels? I've sent an e-mail to Comcast but Comcast hasn't gotten back to me. I'm on Ashwood Run in The Village of Pennecamp, just recently returned here and TV's are working fine so far. BUT what is the Nov 1 deadline about? Is it only for users with a premium or 'more than just basic' service that uses a box which we don't require one. We get more channels that we can watch, and do not watch TV that much, but really don't want the 'picture' to all of a sudden disappear or turn to black and white. We have rec'd nothing from Comcast in the line of a notice concerning our service unless it was third class mail and it wasn't forwarded to us, so perhaps we're OK. If anyone knows how that works, please let me know. Thanks.

I may be wrong and frequently am but,
Does your converter box from Comcast have a port for a HMDI cable? It order to receive the best possible HD type picture, this type of cable should be used. With a LED television, you should receive an excellent picture when on a HD station..

Thanks MIKEOD for the info - I will call Comcast and order two digital converters. I appreciate getting this squared around in my head!

I'm just trying to figure out how to use the internet enabled portion of the TV....the LED connection says we can wirelessly get Netflix. Hulu, Amazon on our TV....as well as on our laptop...(since we have Comcast internet and a wireless router in the house too). There's slots on the back of the set for flashdrives etc too I may have to hire a "geek"! |

In order to use both, once you have your accounts online, you will have to "activate your device" for both accounts. That's done online and then on your tv. |

We are shopping for a new television. We like the Vizio LCD. Questions: 1. The distance from our La-Z-Boys to the TV is 10.5 feet. We're thinking about a 52". Is that too large for comfortable viewing? 2. Any recommendations on an installer to connect and mount the TV? 3. Any recommendations on a sound system? What about the bar sound system? Do we need a sub woofer? Thx

This is very subjective as some people like to sit a little closer and some a little farther back. You might might want to check the disatance when viewing the television in the store. A sound bar is great if you like sports as it gives you a stadium like feeling. I would follow the recommendations given in Consumer Reports as to what best fits your needs.
