Default computer hangs

Yes the issue appears to be resolved. The dealer replaced the hard drive and everything has been working fine, it's been about 4 weeks so if it was going to hang it would have by now.
Being a new laptop, the hard drive may have gotten bumped in shipping, anyway all is well.

I was hoping someone would recommend a solution to your initial problem as the same exact thing has been happening to my desk top HP Pavilion elite HPE which had Windows 7 operating system. It's almost two years old but had been working very well until a day ago.

Talk of the Villages would FREEZE UP. Ancestry.com would FREEZE UP.
Blue Mountain ecards, ditto......everything was just hung up.

I tried restoring system (as whenever HP or Microsoft downloads new stuff, this has happened....that the computer no longer works at it's optimum level); I also defragged, I did everything possible to get it "back to when it was performing just fine a few days ago).

I also thought it might be my internet provider. I wondered also if it was just because a lot of kids are home from college "online" or that people were ordering ecards for Moms Day, etc.........but no matter what I did......it just got worse.

Only different thing is that last week my husband bought me a new 24 inch thin screen monitor.......which I hate.......hard on the eyes and very bright.
I'm wondering if this has something to do with it. He installed a separate switch to turn everything on, but I still have to push an underneath button on the ACER monitor (under the bottom of it is a row of unseen buttons).
I liked my old monitor better but I know it doesn't make sense that this would be the cause of the HP computer freezing up.

It also says WINDOWS NINE ?????????? (meant explorer 9) I never had windows 8; how could I now have windows 9. I liked windows 7.....wish I could get back to it.

Also, whenever I type the numeral "9" it multiplies across several lines.

Basically, I'm finally getting my emails............but it is still sluggish.
I thought that some huge video files that son was sending of baby might have done something.........but that seems o.k. today so it's not the internet provider..........again, I am stumped as to why my major programs are all working sluggishly...........they used to fly.

There is a "cousin" who has been uploading family pics to my online database as Ancestry allows that.......at first she was doing just fine......now I'm wondering if that could be the culprit........her computer is sending pics to my data base and my software is not acting right the past two days. She also thanked me for letting her view and "take" my information, meaning download my data onto her ancestry.com tree as she lost all of hers....still wonder if
this could be what's hanging up my entire system?????

All of the MSN, HP and other things they constantly upgrade were done, then I restored back to old way, then they put them back in again.....this went on and on.......I restored because they were causing my computer to NOT WORK WELL. Any suggestion would be helpful. THANK YOU.

ADDITION OF HYPERLINK ON SOMETHING I JUST FOUND.........

I like two free downloads and run them every 2-4 weeks,

Malwarebytes & Ccleaner, as their name implies they work great.

Default freeze up

After a few sessions same thing. Dealer said to remove and reinstall AVAST antivirus..did that helped for awhile back to same problem.
Then took unit back to dealer they did a deep virus removal and that seemed to help for about 2 weeks, then, bingo, froze up again! Really frustrating.took it back once again and dealer gave me a new Hard Drive, ghosting my old one...we will see. Dealer has been very helpful but who knows if this will be ultimate solution or do I simply have a "lemon"
Question? anyone had similar experience, possible solutions? or cause?

Thanks
If you have Comcast, try unplugging the power source to your router for approx. 1 min. and then plug back in. It appears that when Comcast upgraded the speed they had some kind of glitch. My computer now seems to work fine.

Also took your advice re Comcast.

Even though Fairpoint is our internet provider, pulling out the power source from the router did work. Thank you.

Where before the signal was weak to poor, it is now excellent.
This morning it was just "good"; yesterday it was weak to poor.

That was the last step after all the other "updates".........
