I can do this on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. Tried using calendars on my phones before and just too cumbersome. Like it on the tablet. Doesn't come with much instruction though - I went to a free club here at the Villages once, helped a lot. They have a website which I have not yet visited, but will try to find. The club met on Thursdays @ 1:00 at Seabreeze, not sure if it is still meeting (I have another activity that day).

I use my tablet for reading (directly downloads from my 2 libraries) but doesn't work well in sun - however; I never sit in the sun if possible. My husband likes it or accessing sports apps. I also like being able to check my email on it when he is on our laptop, use it to travel with as well, esp. when I don't want to leave a laptop in a hotel room on in the car, or on a cruise. It was about $159 (on sale) when we bought it last summer.

Heavier than my Nook, but will probably only use the Nook as a backup reader when traveling (when my husband is hogging the tablet . Do not like typing on it.

Take a look at the iPad Mini. My wife prefers it over her previous iPad, and would never go back to the larger device.

To clarify, I am mostly a windows user. My Linux world ends at work. The company I work for sells a product that ships on a Linux appliance. I write software so the admin that sets up and administers the appliance does not have to know Linux.

I do have an old laptop which is destined to have Linux on it so I play with the Linux user experience, but have yet to get around to it.

Well if your new tablet is Android you will be "sort of" a Linux user!

(I run it on a MacBook Pro.)

I've had several Nooks and now have the Nexus 7. Love my Nexus. 7 inch screen is great for reading and fine for browsing. There is a Nexus 10 if you really want the bigger screen. Spouse has a larger Nook HD+ tablet but I prefer the smaller size and lighter weight of the Nexus.

I'm the secretary on the state's genealogy board and I can take notes directly onto my iPad and don't have to listen to that horrible recorder! Just re-type them when I get home on my laptop. Love it! I also love the Aps.

My cousin has the latest Kindle Fire. She reads a lot and loves it. She doesn't have have high speed internet at home and downloads everything at the Library and reads it when she wants.
I think if you open google calendar on your laptop you will be able to enter an event that you can then repeat on the 2nd Tuesday of each month! then that will automatically sync to your iPad and iPhone calendar.

Ouch, that's pretty silly. Most recurring appointments repeat on a particular day of the week

I have a Mac Book my wife has a Mac book I have a IPod 4 my wife has a iPod 2. If you are looking something to surf the internet and email IMO you need to checkout a Chrome Book. For the price tag you cannot beat them. It will be the next purchase for my wife for that is all she uses them for. Worth checking then out to see if it is for you.

I love the convenience of downloading books from Amazon on the Kindle Fire. How easy is this on other tablets?

We are finally a total Apple family with my husband just getting his IPhone 5s. We both have IPads Airs,w/32GB and he has a MacPro laptop and I have a MacBook Air. Before all this w were total Windows and Android. My tablet before was an Asus Transformer top of the the line. It was fine but I love the backup capabilities and and the ease of sharing between computers. Apple support can't be beat in my book. Apple has more than enough free and cheap apps. for the average person. We won't go back and are very happy Apple customers. Just my 2 cents

There is much I like about my Kindle Fire HDX the larger one. One of those things is not the browser. The silk browser does not do flash and all to frequently just locks up requiring shut down and restart.
Otherwise g great screen, good for reading inside for email etc. The May day button is very helpful. Just wish the would do something to improve the browser...Oh and apps are limited.

I figured it out!!!! I entered the appointments that were on the 2nd Tuesday or 3rd Wednesday in Outlook's Cloud. Outlook's Cloud syncs with both the iPad and iPhone! I'm a happy camper now!!

Thanks everyone for your help.
