Thank you for asking. This is a great question. If anyone else uses Roku on 25mbs download speed and is having trouble would you chime in too?

I know my roku is like a little computer but i wasn't sure if some channels reguire higher download speeds.

I watch cbs, smithsonian, pbs, some others on my Roku.

For HD with Netflix through a Roku box, you need 3 megabits/sec for 720p resolution. I believe 1080p needs about 4-5 megabits/sec. We often have two sets streaming Netflix at HD resolutions with 10 megabit/sec nominal download internet access. Both Roku boxes are connected to the router via WiFi.

Do I need that kind of download speed for Netflix or Roku? I don't want to pay for a speed I never use.
