Thumbs up Aldi Foods

Has anyone been to the new Aldi Store near WalMart on 441? We've been there twice and have been very impressed with their prices and food quality. To keep prices down they have fewer products, and smaller staffs (5/store)

To get your cart insert a quarter--you will get this back when you return cart. For those who have shopped in Europe, it is similar. Cashiers sit--not stand. Store is small, and they won't have everything you want. They sell only their own brands--which we have been pleased with. Only take cash. They do not have bags. Buy them there or bring your own. The cashier loads items into grocery cart. We then take to car and bag them. Line goes by very quickly.

This store will not be for everyone, but those who want or need to save some money, it is great.

Default Aldi

They just opened an Aldi here in Seneca, SC. I have been there twice so far and agree that its quite good. Their own brand is as good as major brands in many cases and the prices are really great when compared with the big supermarkets. The system works well and the store provides a place to get many of the basics more reasonably. You can then go to a regular supermarket and get the remainder of the stuff you need. In the end you save money.

We used to shop Aldi's years ago here in Michigan.

The problems I ran into with a couple of their products were: canned fruit was not always ripe enough and I don't like hard, crunchy, stringy canned pears especially or canned veggies of lower quality with blemishes and black spots. We didn't find these problems every time but once was enough for me.

However, some items were just fine like canned tomato sauce and sliced mushrooms.

Aldi's is not for everyone.

The only thing we like about Aldi's is that there is a corporate relationship with Trader Joe's. Their distribution center is in Lakeland and there is some industry talk that Trader Joe's may open 4 locations in Florida and share that distribution center.

Oh! If Trader Joes comes there I would have to add that to the list of reasons why I want to move to TV.

Love Aldi, when I was stationed in Germany I use to go there instead of the Commissary.

Aldi's dark chocolate candy bar (made in Austria or Germany) is wonderful and only $1.39. It's huge.
