Please read you policy!!! My current policy with Kin specially states the homeowner agrees not to assign benefits and they will not honor AOBs (don't recall exact wording). So as I read it, if the insurer won't pay, the homeowner will.

Yikes! I just had one of their salesman at my door. My neighbor who had his roof replaced with them said, never, never use them. Very painful process. I believed him.

But is there a downside for the homeowner? I can see a downside for the insurance company, the roof inspector/sales guy, and the attorney. But I'm missing where the homeowner gets screwed. Can anybody spell this out for me?

Joe
Was in the biz. The insurance company generally ends up paying at least 10-20% more than the market price of the roof and premiums will rise higher than if they were not involved,

Hope she did not pay anything. Suggest you try to rescind the contract. May need to get a lawyer involved.

What if your insurance company says "yeah there is damage but we're not paying"? 'Cause that's what happened with my dads roof (inspected prior to the last hurricane). Do you just roll over and pay for a new roof out of pocket or do you push the insurance company to cover what they said they'd cover?

Contact Seniors Against Crime (a division of the FL Attorney General) and file a complaint.

It is but the insurance company needs to be able to prove that it is fraud. Very hard to do.

He said he could help line up a lawyer to go after the home insurance company (Progressive) and probably get a new roof. The roof is about 10 years old. The lawyer answered the phone call right away and set up a meeting for Friday night. Something like "Your Insurance Lawyer, inc." (can't remember the exact name)

The whole thing sounded fishy as hell to me....but I don't know anything about roofs or insurance. Is this legit?

Thanks!
