Default Hot water on demand & water treatment

Dear Fellow V's-
I want to put in a HOT WATER ON DEMAND system & a whole house WATER TREATMENT system for purity & taste. Does anyone have experience with these or can suggest a plumber that can advise & do the work?

CA, we installed a water treatment system but only for our kitchen. We got the two filter system, one step below RO.
As far as the hot water. Before you install it, I would reference an article in Consumer Reports. They did one a few months back and do not recommend them due to the fact they don't do what they say as far as how hot the water actually gets and the cost payback time.
We had thought of getting it installed in our Alabama house, but changed our minds after reading it.

Al - I've had my on demand heater for over 5 years & I love it. Mine is gas not electric & it has a temp. control which is set at 120 degrees. As far as I can tell my water is plenty hot & I've never run out. My family came down from Jersey for a wedding & my house was full. I have 4 full bathrooms & they were all in use at the same time, plus the dishwaser & washing machine were running at the same time. I have'nt read the article from Consumer Reports, but I've always respected what they have to say. As far as water softners ther are different ways to go, but you have to be very careful when dealing with any of the company's that sell them. Only belive half of what they say & count your fingers when they leave. gm

I second Army Guys' recommendation. A whole house system is not needed in TV, the water quality is quite good. An installation for the kitchen sink will meet your needs. Start with a simple filter system from the big box store and you'll likely not need anything more

In my experience, many people pay a lot for much more water treatment then they really need. There are water treatment specialists out there who would be more than happy to sell you a star wars system which requires regular service. Treating the water that you're going to use to flush the toilets with is just flushing your money down the drain. Sorry, old water utility joke.

Default Pre heater tank?

With attic temperatures high in Florida, has anyone installed a water tank in the attic on the cold water input side of the hot water heater. This tank would act as a preheater of the input water. [ I have one in the basement in PA and have reduced Hot water cost by about 25%]

That was exactly our logic. PLUS. whole house filters do not do as well filtering the chemicals that may get into the water. Point of use filters as they are called, do much better and actually can reach 99% efficiency. Now that can be bad also, especially if you have children as it will remove the fluoride (sp?) that is added in some water systems to fight tooth decay. But if you brush regular you will be ok.

Default Water Treatment

I love my whole house water treatment system and softener. Gone are the days of smelling and tasting chlorine everywhere. No more weird colors or odors in my laundry or bathrooms. My system was installed by a friend (builder for 30 yrs.) and everything was purchased at Home Depot. Perhaps it's over-kill, but I am an allergy sufferer and I would not be without it. All this from a lady's point of view - hope that is OK on this thread.
