Default Awning on a Birdcage

Does anyone have experience or knowledge about awnings on a birdcage? I would appreciate comments, warnings, etc. I am thinking of doing it. I would like to use my birdcage more often - without sun. Some that I have seen look very tacky. Thanks for any help.

I had installed a motorized retractable awning which I only put down for shade when I so desire it. It has no verticle posts at all and when retracted u don't even know its there. It is 14 feet long (i think they go up to 20 feet long) and they open to I believe 11 feet or so.

I would be happy to let u see mine if u wish. Leave me a personal note if u would like to c it.

I live in Bonnybrook.

We recently installed an awning over the top of our entire birdcage. So far we love it and it seems much cooler out there now. We have been sitting out most every evening.

According to your deed restrictions you can not put an awning on top of a birdcage

Another point...as long as any resident does not make a complaint, what ever you do will go unnoticed, but if there is a complaint, community standards could make you remove it, or face hefty fines.

I had a cover put over my birdcage a few months ago and love it. It was approved by the ARC. Sunshine Awings did the installation

I was told you may extend two feet over your build line, extend meaning no structure but overhanging

I know people have gotten approval for covering their birdcage. I saw one in the Village of Caroline that was beautiful. You can see it driving by - it's on Stillwater right before you get to the circle behind a courtyard villa. It's a rental and his phone number is on the window.

Isn't a bird cage with a cover the same as a lanai?

Would any of you that had this work done care to share pictures? I'd love to see what you did. I am very interested in getting a birdcage but not as interested in sittiing in the sun and an awning or cover would be the perfect solution.
