Not good on service probably depends on who you get. Bought our golf cart from them, had a service problem charged us plenty & didn’t fix. Our neighbor said call Todd Casey he identified problem in 2 minutes replaced part, that was 3 years ago and no problem since. Todd is excellent

If you want a quality Yamaha (Gas and quiet) with some bells. They can also build you what you want.
We didn’t want hard doors or AC. If you look around and narrow down what you want (Incl $$$ spent) your choices determine the amount spent. We just got a 2 seater there and we are very happy with the sale and we got a kill switch alarm system for theft. I forget what they call it.
They say it get 45 miles to gallon. I’m told by others that’s about 300 miles.

We also have an electric EVOLUTION, 2 seater. I replaced the batteries and one charge goes 54 miles. We like it a lot but wanted the gas option for those times we go from our north end to the turnpike end of The Villages.
What I am not happy about is the insurance for this gas golf cart. That is another subject.

Many people buy Electric carts when they first arrive here. After seeing how much they use them they switch to Gas because it gets you farther/further and it gets you THERE. If you see a cart stranded, it is an Electric.

The Villages Golf Cart has several locations, and just like everything the Villages handle, they do a good job. I suggest a Gas Yamaha and drive carefully but never after drinking.

We bought a 4 seat gas Yamaha from the Villages Golf Cart store 19 years ago. We live here year round, use it every day and it's still running strong. Excellent service, and on sale and not letting them oversell you gets you a good price and product you want. We are more than happy with them.

Your comment is right on the money. Anything anybody say to get or not to get, somebody will disagree. I think you should get what you want & believe the dealer or your instinct. After you own 1 cart you’ll learn really quick what suits you & not what someone else says. Take your time looking &
don’t buy from the 1st dealer because they promise you this or that. Good Luck!

Carts and Clubs in Ocala is a good source for golf carts. If you need service, they come to your house.

Yamaha gas carts with fuel injection (most of the carts since 2013) will go 250 miles on a tank of gas.

Now Gracie you know that's no longer true. Coming back from the doctors the other day there was a cart sitting in the tunnel at the Savannah golf course......waiting for Kart Aid. It was gas. We have two electrics and they always get us THERE. Times and technology have improved.

You may want to try renting a cart that is gas for a few weeks and then renting an electric one for that decision. Depending on what you plan in keeping in your garage space may also determine the length ( 2 seater/4 seater), and as others have said, you can always rent a bigger cart for times you have folks visiting .Their are also rear step platforms that fold up for a smaller profile in a garage or tight parking spot. Do check out the crown /evolution/ atomic brands as they offer some of the features you mentioned. There are some cool custom carts as well that are offered in gas and electric. Street Rod is one brand and they have a retail store with new and used carts.

I cannot comment on solid doors or roll up weather protection. We have two carts, one gas and one electric and have not been caught in the rain so we have not used the roll down protection. We have been here since last August and I recognize there are those on the site that have great years of knowledge. All I can add is we were happy with our choices and used the combined knowledge of those on this site to help guide us in factor for buying our carts.

Also, there are tons of carts for sale that are used, some private party, others are dealers that re certify with warranties up to 5 years. Do not feel that only a new cart from a expensive pushy shop will be the right choice for you. Some are advertised on this site in the classified section, the village sun newspaper classifieds, Facebook Market Place, Craig's list and in front and inside the dealerships. We also encountered a great number of carts sitting on a driveway or neighborhood corner with for sale signs on them.

Last , if your purchase is able to be kept as a GOLF CART only , your insurance may be about $200 a year.
If you decide to go with a STREET LEGAL or GOLF CART vehicle, and you opt for STREET LEGAL, you will pay the same insurance as a regular car or truck on the road.
Check very specifically with your seller and then your insurance company for correct decision making. Many companies offer a gas or electric vehicle that is street legal OR just golf cart. Remember, there are over 110 miles of milti- model pathways for golf carts that do not require street legal plates and higher insurance. Depending on where you live and the path system to place you go regularly may assist you in your decision as well.

While a TV majority go for gas - it's faster - electric are quieter with no exhaust fumes if one is sensitive. I bought electric because the automotive industry is rapidly developing better batteries (range, an issue 5 years ago, is not a great concern now and will be less in the future) and electrics have far fewer moving parts to go wrong.

hard doors are only on 2 seaters, and have disadvantages, particularly with getting in and out (the best I remember). We visited several different places, here and in Ocala. The more folks you deal with, the more questions you ask, the less likely you will be to make a mistake in your decision (IMHO). We ended up going with Sam Sullivan at The Villages Shop, Brownwood location. He was most helpful and patient! We are very pleased with our 4 seat cart, and all of the extras that we decided to include. Tell Sam hello from Gary and Barbara please!
