Default chatahoochee river rocks

we are thinking of covering our birdcage floor with chatahoochee river rock but have gotten mixed opinions. Newly installed users seem very pleased; it looks great. BUT ... what do those of you who have had several years experience think about the product? Is it a maintenance nightmare? Does it begin to fail after just a few years? Experience PLEASE.

If you use the search button and type 'chatahoochee' in the box, you will find a whole bunch of prior discussion on the topic. (My posts included)

I was at first hesitant, mainly because there weren't lots of people around offering this service/application. After seeing it applied (Youtube) I can understand why. This is a specialty field, not an additional service you could easily 'add on' to your existing business.

I discovered that my Hubby has relatives who are native Floridians. Turns out they have had Chatahoochee river rock for over 20 years. They have had it professionally re-sealed twice in all that time. They LOVE it, and it is heaven to walk on.
P.S. This rock really IS shipped in from the Chatahoochee river. Numerous, different colored granite outcroppings provide the color mix. Nature polishes it into very tiny, smooth mini pebbles.

Matt Allums really did a superb job for us! We now have it everywhere outside except on the driveway, as we live in a CYV and installation there is not permitted... but we do have it IN the garage. I look forward to enjoying ours for a VERY long time.

As the previous poster mentions - you should use Matt Almus for this procedure. You'll be glad you did. Had our bird cage done about 9 months ago. There are no down-sides and the appearance is stunning.

From what I hear, a protective coating is suggested every two to three years. Expence is about $75. I have the riverrock and love it.

Matt did our lanai / patio a couple weeks ago. He did a super job, a pleasure to work with, very professional and an expert at his art. Matt told us that the area on the patio, which is exposed to the sun & weather, will probably need resealed in 2 1/2 to 3 years. The area under roof should not need resealed that soon. Friends of ours here in The Villages have had river rock in their lanai for over 15 years and it still looks great. We love the look - the entire job took Matt less than 2 hours to complete and it cured overnight.

When Matt installed riverrock on our lanai, back in March, it cost $4 sq ft.
