Default Car Service

We took our Nissan into Lake Nissan for drive belt replacement and were told that we had the wrong transmissio fluid and had to have the old fluid removed and flushed and refilled. We have had our car serviced at a Nissan dealer prior to moving here and have had no problems. Called them and they said that they never changed the fluid from the factory. Who is right? Anyone had any problems with Lake Nissan?

Thanks
Doreen and Dick

I would call Lake and speak with a manager, you were taken. I have never heard of having to change the fluid from the factory. If that doesn't work use the Internet and e-mail their district offices.

Check your vehicle's owner's manual for recommended trans fluid change schedule. Some cars have a regular schedule for changing, others do not (ex. some automatic transmissions come "sealed" from the factory - no tranny dipstick, no drain plug).

I'd suggest following the recommended service schedule and keep receipts. Gives you a leg to stand on if you have a transmission problem at some point in time.
