Default Reputable Flooring Contractors?

I would like to have my carpeting and linoleum replaced. I have an open floor plan (Anna Maria) so may have to use whatever I decide throughout the whole house so it doesn't look choppy, although I would like to do two different types of flooring.
What is the best material to use here in Florida? I am used to hardwood floors up north but not sure about them down here.
Also, what companies has anyone used and been happy with?
Thank you

We just had our entire house done in laminate by Royal Palm Flooring. Ask for Chuck, they did a great job and were less expensive than the big 3 in The Villages. Tell Chuck that Sue & Gary sent you, and we are pleased and happy to send along more customers!

I've been very happy with FloorMasters. We've had them do tile and hardwood. They stand by their work and are very customer oriented.

Village Flooring in Fruitland Park did a great job on our new sun room, lanai and birdcage area. Melissa and James are the owners and they are very nice and knowledgable people with a great staff. Their number is (352) 315-8855.

Floors of the Villages removed our carpet and installed hardwood. Great job.

I would not recommend Floor Masters!! We had a very bad time with them! It took three weeks to tile our ranch and did not have good cooperation with management!
We did have excellent work done by Wildwood Flooring in our lanai and birdcage!!!!

Hands down, East Coast Flooring. Installation date was given, done on that date and completed in planned time frame. Their floor installers are wonderful, professional and did a great job. They were very clean, no mess left behind. I had hard wood installed throughout the whole house, had the floor molding removed, floor installed right up to the wall and the molding reattached. This was done so beautifully, it is impossible to tell that the floor did not come with the house. Tell Jeff, Kathy Barbato sent you. Please realize that Jeff is the sales person, the men doing the work are the installers and they are the ones who do all the work and beautifully too!

We too had a very bad time with Floormasters. Alex was my salesman and he and I went back and forth for weeks where I had a really hard time getting him to return my calls. Then after it was finally finished and I picked tile and they gave me a price the owner decided not to install the floor after all. I was trying to get the floors put in before I moved down and I gave my property management person full authority to get the floors installed. I looked at samples, chose a floor with her help and spoke to Alex and the owner of Floormaster. I had agreed to sign papers saying I wouldn't sue if I wasn't happy with the choice after it was installed but still they refused to install my floor. Next they said I had to fly down to Fl from PA for 20 minutes to choose the tile in person and signing a release wasn't enough for them. I agreed reluctantly, but then they said that 20 minutes wasn't enough, I had to fly down for 4 days while they installed the floor. It just kept getting worse. I would have been fine with this policy if they hadn't agreed to do the job without me there at the end of February and strung me along until the beginning of May and THEN told me they would only do it with conditions. This is not a reputable way to do business. I felt that everything I agreed to just made them up the ante for what they wanted me to do next. If they didn't want to do the job and wanted me to back out, they should have just said no to the job in the beginning. Instead it left me with very bad feelings and no contractor to get my tile floors installed on short notice (my property manager found someone to do it last minute, thankfully). I normally do not like to complain publicly about a company, but I think they earned this one.

I really recommend Villages Flooring in Fruitland Park. We had Armstrong Alterna LVT (luxury vinyl tile) laid in the main portions of the house (Lantana) to cover cracked traditional tile. They gave us such good advice and did such good work that we then had them do our bedrooms, 2 with carpet and 1 with bleached-wood looking laminate. Love it all, and am recommending them to all my friends, 2 of whom have also used them and been very satisfied.

I'm truly sorry you had to endure this experience. Fortunately ours was much better.

Another enthusiastic vote for Royal Palm Flooring. Did our Amarillo ranch's laminate flooring in the fall of '12 and removed carpeting and moldings prior. We were not even here yet.

Reasonable, thorough and professional. Talk to Chuck.

Try lowes or Home Depot . They sell a lot of flooring material.

I used floor masters and had a wonderful experience. I, too, was used to hardwood floors, but found a teak laminate they had that looked like hardwood and is so much easier to care for. They did the job before I moved down here. All done in a timely fashion. We were in Florida and had stopped by the shop and picked out exactly what we wanted, and they took care of the rest. No issues, we were very pleased with their work and two years later, the floors still look great!

I am glad both posters had a good experience with Floormaster. They have been in business for years and I am sure they do a great job for many people. I just posted MY experience with them and my frustrations. I know that Eddie does their tile work and he is a master at tile, which is why I wanted them to do my tile work. No one stays in business if they only do bad work. I appreciate the kind words from Dbussone; it was a horrible experience. Especially since it went on for so long from so far away.

We have used Empire, Floormasters & 2 Independents AND recently, "Lumber Liquidators" out of Orlando and Sanford. Their cost for laminate flooring was $2 per square foot LESS than Floormasters. With an 1,000 square foot area, that ends up being big bucks. We are "eco/green" concerned and I don't want anymore of the rainforest destroyed thus, no real wood. We had an Independent who installs tile, laminate renovates kitchens AND baths much less than Contractors in the "VILLAGES PERIMETER"...Villages Flooring knows the Installer....Check out Lumber Liquidators!!
