Default closing

I am flying down next week to close on a pre-owned patio villa. I understand that I will get mailbox keys at the closing. Does anyone know the process for getting a resident ID?

I need to try to buy the essential furniture and other items while I am here for a week. Also looking for a golf cart. Any suggestions?

They will take your picture and give you an ID at the bank. I think it's the same time you get your mailbox keys. As for a golf cart, ours is from National Golf Cart in Leesburg. We got a great deal and very nice people.

The Villages handled all our administrative business on our pre-owned Courtyard Villa in their Sales Office, pictures, cards, etc. They were well organized and thought of everything. (We didn't use a Bank).

If you want to save money and buy gently used furniture, try Bargains and Treasures. They pick up furniture on consignment from 13 houses daily. You will need to visit at least once a day to get the "good stuff" when it comes in. PM me if you want more informatin on B & T, we bought all our furniture there!

If you're in a hurry, my suggestion for furniture would be Southern Lifestyles in LSL or SS.

We bought our Columbia Par Car privately. There are at least four places selling golf carts located on Highway 441. It's a matter of budget and personal choice. You can access many varied opinions from TOTV members on electric versus gas by hitting the Search button above (in the black area at the top of the page).

You are going to LOVE living in The Villages. Welcome to Paradise.

We just closed a couple weeks ago.

You sign the papers at the mortgage co., get your house and mailbox keys as part of that.
In the same building, next office down, you get your resident IDs
Citizens Bank is right in the same building too, if you're using them, where you can set up an account, use autodrafts, online banking, etc...

Golf cart, plenty of threads.. Golf Cart Connection has a good rep

Furniture.. Southern Lifestyles has good quality and service, but a tad pricey (I think)

We closed by mail. I thought we could get ID cards at one of the regional rec centers--e.g. Colony Cottage. Is that not so? We will be down next week.

Good luck! You'll be impressed how organized the closing is; everything will get done there, and believe it when everyone says they've had enough experience to do it right.

There's also a big furniture consignment shop in Ocala whose name I can't think of; it's in the same strip mall as Staples.

Rooms to Go has clearance centers where whatever you buy, you take, no waiting. We did very well at the huge Rooms to Go warehouse clearance center in Seffner, but that's down near Tampa and may be impractical for you to get to.

We bought our cart from the sellers of the house we bought, so I have no suggestions for you about stores.

I highly recommend Bargains and Treasures for furniture and Golf Cart Connection for golf cart. Stay away from Discount Golf Carts on 441 near Fruitland Park - I had a bad experience with them and have heard of others.

Welcome to TV - I"m sure you will love it. It's an exciting place.

Welcome to you. We are coming down next week for our second and third week of "settling in" We pulled a trailer in April and will again with items we found here in Cincinnati. I really liked Bargains and Treasures, it is not JUNK or broken stuff, it is really nice. I went every couple of days. New stuff comes in every day. They are nice and well organized.

mac,
You'll find that The Villages real estate transactions whether new or preowned are like a well oiled machine. Absolutely everything is thought out and waiting for you. I bought a resale Villa a few weeks ago and since I am not there yet to live, I used the services of Handie (see his ad in TOTV). He found and made all the arrangements for me to purchase a resale golf cart and did some alterations and upkeep items in my home in my absense. I highly recommend his services.

Bargains and Treasures is at the SE intersection of 466 and 301 highways.
It's a tad off the road in a little strip center, but you can see the sign and turn in from the east side of 466.

Nice place, though we didn't find exactly what we were looking for, lots of variety in good condition, somewhat eclectic, and great prices.
