Default Computer Repair

Just noticed this on villages.net website. Just an FYI.... I have no knowledge of the quality or cost of their services:

TheVillages.net can now diagnose, repair, recommend, upgrade, replace or solve any and every of your computer problems in our office.
  • Drop off your PC, go shopping and pick it up later.
  • $30 fee for diagnostic. Fee waived if we repair it.
  • Current TVN Customers – ask about your $5 discount.
Call 753-4040 for further details and pricing.

I prefer to have someone come to my home. I have a guy I trust here in TV who does excellent work at very reasonable prices. I'm not "dropping off" my PC with anybody. Thanks but no thanks.

Default Computer Help Needed

I need the name of an experienced and trustworthy computer guy or gal. Can you recommend anyone locally?

I've somehow managed to inherit a computer bug that sends out emails from my address book and pretends they're from me. And if friends open the email and link, their address book will also be hijacked.

Default Spam emails from your address book

Barefoot, before you spend money on that you might check into it more. I don't think it's your computer having a bug. There's a lot of that happening and I don't think it can be fixed.

I agree Gypsy, it is NOT my laptop computer that has a bug, or my iPad. It's a bug in Rogers, my internet provider. I open my mail in Yahoo. It started with a friend sending a note with a link, and I clicked on the link. Big mistake. My friend hadn't sent the e-mail at all, his address book had been infiltrated. Now my Rogers address book has been infilitrated and a worm is sending out links from my e-mail address to friends telling them to click on a link, but the e-mails aren't from me. I just hate the thought of my friends being inconvenienced.

I know I could just stop using that e-mail provider and cancel it. And set up a gmail account. And start fresh. But all my files and pictures and address books are with Rogers. It will take hundreds of hours to transfer pictures and files and contact lists. And I don't want to transfer the bug by mistake.

So that is why I think I need to pay a Computer Expert to take care of me. And I definitely only want someone who has been referred by a friend.

My sources say it might be as easy as changing your Yahoo! password. Also, look in your sent fold (on Yahoo!) to see if you can see the sent emails.

I would change the password and see if that helps....

Thanks, that is easy to do, I'll change the password right now.

I did look in my sent folder on Yahoo. Some e-mails that were sent out in my name went into the Sent Folder. Others did not. I have no idea why.

I use Peter Cronas--who also teaches computer classes at LIFELONG COLLEGE OF LEARNING.....his number is:
352.753.7249
peterc.vcc@hotmail.com

Tell him that Lynn Fitzgerald sent you.....He thoroughly "cleaned up" my computer--got rid of viruses--and got it operating as "good as new"--and only charged $35.
