Verizon will not give that deal to current customers, only people who switch to them from another service. So nice that they don’t take care of their loyal customers, huh?

We switched from Verizon to Trac when we could discontinue a family plan (kids grew up and got their own services). We each bought phones and for smart phones the cost is about $120 per yr ea. We don't use data much (we connect to home wifi when possible) and have never run out of the text and talk (but you can always add more).
Does the Comcast price include more than 1 phone? I might consider that if it comes to around $20/mo for 2 phones with unlimited talk/text. |

some times the grass in the other fella's yard isn't actually greener than the grass in your own back yard....
we've been with Verizon forever....often I think about switching when these great sign up offers come across my radar from other wireless companies....but Verizon has the best coverage...and now with our reluctance to fly around the country, we'll be driving, so going with the one that has the best coverage certainly makes the most sense to us So maybe we spend a few more dollars more a month....big deal...we'll stay with the Verizon because of their network |

Sprint is ok, not great in the Villages. They have merged with AT&T.

I did have sprint..very good...offer plans from $40/mo...ask also about senior pricing. I changed to xfinity for $13/mo. Found out I only use about 1/2 g data so no problem and good service so far!

I switched from Verizon after 15 years with them to Consumer Cellular several months ago and am pleased. It uses WIFI when at home and the Verizon backbone when out. AARP provides a discount, one phone for less than $30.00 per month. You can increase data plans as needed.

Hello. 3 months ago, we switched from Verizon to Xfinity Mobile, and the service connection was better AND almost 50% cheaper. -myk

Word on the street is Sprint is being bought out by T-Mobile. Go with Consumer Cellular...you won't be disappointed

If you stay on WiFi most often (home, stores, restaurants) you don't use up your plan data. Therefore the low data plans are OK if the $$ savings are good. If you occasionally go over, you can usually pay for more data at $10-15 per Gb for that month.

I have used Tracfone for many years (more than I want to count). I have always been happy with their service. You can go with either their Pay-as-you-go plan or have a monthly bill with set or unlimited time. I got my LG smart phone from QVC with 1500 mins/1500 txts/1500 bytes for $80. They have different makes and models available. After you get the phone, you can switch your phone number over and sign up for their monthly terms if that's the way you want to go. I love Tracfone!

Note that Sprint was just absorbed by T-Mobile. I do not know what that will mean for sure other than you will need to get new phones in a year or two as they complete the transition. We have Sprint which works well in metropolitan and developed areas but not at all in places like national parks and spotilly on many highways whereas Verizon seems to work well in all based on our friends who have Verizon. Good luck with your decision.

Biggest consideration is do you use a lot of data or not. If you are only looking for phone service then the options are much better.
Before you switch, do your homework on a) how much trouble and expense is it to get out of existing contract and b) how hard will it to be to go back. I did not do that and had to spend considerable time and money to return to ATT from Tmobile. Phone service was fine but data was horrible despite all the misleading coverage maps they put on their websites. I now use Xfinity(Verizon network) which is probably the best deal if you use a lot of data. Switched to them from AT&T. Seen some warnings that carriers give their direct customers priority in congested areas but I have not experienced that problem. And I do travel alot into rural areas. One big advantage of Xfinity is that you don't have to use multiple phones to get the great discount like with Verizon and AT&T. I have one phone with unlimited and one on the 1GB plan. Saved almost $100 a month. Last edited by ithos; 05-24-2020 at 11:05 AM. |

I have been a Sprint customer for many years and have been very satisfied. However, T Mobile and Sprint have just merged so you may want to see if they offer any new deals.

I am strictly speaking of coverage, not pricing in my reply.
When I moved here from Clearwater I had AT&T as my carrier for 20 years. They were the best in that region. I moved here and as I approached CR 42 northbound or went past 466A southbound I lost coverage. I asked the same question(s) as you in terms of who to switch to. Overwhelmingly Verizon was the top choice. It's been 4 years and I couldn't be happier with them. Zero "blackout" areas. I cannot speak to Sprints coverage personally, but the majority told me Verizon and I'm glad I chose them. Good luck! |
