Default Custom closets recommendation

Looking for recommendations on custom closet vendors-installers. The previous recommendations from this forum have been gold. Thanks in advance and thanks to everyone who have steered me straight in the past.

I do have a quote from a custom closet vendor and they came in bit north of $6k, with installation. 3 walls (10’, 8’ and 5’), 2 corners. I used the IKEA designer and the equivalent priced out at $2.5k, materials only. Ikea is not the same quality and limited sizing, leaving gaps. Not planning on doing it myself. Hoping to get one more bid.

Home - Closet Wise - have done several projects with them and super-happy with the outcomes. Michael and April live in The Villages and are the owners. They have done a lot of great work with many neighbors.

Great to hear. This is who we got the original quote from. Very impressed with the design and the people we have dealt with. Based on exploring the IKEA route the quote seems reasonable.Thank you.

We've used online Easy Closets and are very happy with the quality product and results. My wife does the layout with their "simple to use" planning tools. Boxes of material are delivered right to your door and if there is an issue, (we once had one panel arrived cracked), it is immediately replaced and they didn't ask for any return of defective piece. I see you're not a do-it-yourselfer with installation but any capable handyman could hang the cleats for you and assemble the panels. Village Tinker comes to mind... I'd send some pics but my wife doesn't want people to see all the clothes she has hanging there.

We went with Inspired Closets.

We’re absolutely thrilled with the design, installation, and the excellent follow-up service!

Custom closets (shelves, doors, and some drawers) can be pricey, but the design flexibility really made our pantry and bedroom closets triple in storage. Even those “dead” corners are now in use! We made some adjustments and added shelves in the months after, fully customizing the space. I even stopped by with the size of the new shelf I wanted to add, and a few days later, I could swing by the office to pick up the shelf and the pins for installation.

We took the plunge when we built and saw the cost as an investment. The financial “hit” has faded, but every day as we put away laundry or cook in the kitchen, I’m thrilled we made the wise decision to invest in our home. They’re going to last us for 25 years!

Love them…

Another thumbs up for Inspired Closets. They have done a walk in closet, a built in home office and garage upgrades. Their showroom is beautiful and I would go to look at the showroom and talk with them before making your choice.

We used Wall Beds Plus in Oxford and were happy with their work. It was a few years ago, but their prices were pretty comparable to Easy Closets so it didn’t make sense for us to do that installation work ourselves.

We get that, we're just really fussy about home improvements, design and quality of materials. We did save money over Wall Beds Plus also. To each their own and happy you like your choice.

In 5 houses we have used Custom Closets and Inspired Closets.

Inspired does great work, however I found two issues with our needs. The closets have a clean look, because they don’t sit on the floor, but attach only to the wall.

So heavy items are a problem, even with installation knowing shelves would hold heavy item, the unit detached from the wall, twice. It was fixed but couldn’t use the closet as needed.

Second Inspired at the time didn’t install Triple hang. Floor to ceiling stacked, with top rod as a pull down. No ladder needed. We store all our Winter clothes out of the way yet convenient to get to. Those who have 10’ ceiling in the closet there is a ton of wasted space. With just regular closet installed

[NOT] to see Such HIGH Quotes !!

After my wife had a couple of ‘Closet Design” Vendors come in for Quotes and received same cost of a quite few Thousand Dollars,

we decided to investigate ’Closet Maid’ and other online manufacturers, to discover the units we needed for her 18’ x 6 ‘ WIC cost less then $500.00, and w accessories, like additional Shelving for Across the Top of the Hanger Pole Sections and misc hardware I picked up at the local Home Improvements Store, the Total Cost was actually LESS than $1K

WHILE I was IN THE CLOSET
with the 10’ High Ceiling, realized I can Add “Wrap-Around” Shelving at 8’ above the Floor and can use my 6’ Ladder to Store All the Boxes of our Holiday Decorations

AND
being Quite the Perfectionist,
Everyone Loves the Outcome !!

ONLY PROBLEM IS
I have no idea what to charge my Villages Neighbors to Provide a Plan, Build the Units (I even use carpenters glue), and Install w All the Safety Measures,

BUT CERTAINLY
have no problem if anyone sends
a Private Message as to Discuss

I'm sending out a response with more information for your question. I didn't use the TOTV messaging so be on the lookout in your email and I'm sending if off now, approximately 9:50 AM. Also, regarding AsianThree's issues with their closet system.. we ran a 1" x 3" wood cleat tightly along the base of all our closet features and painted it to match the wall. Those racks and shelves were loaded and one area included a printer. Be sure to plan around electrical outlets when laying out your closet features.

Highly recommend Easy Closets. Have done 5 closets in our homes. Did three in our current Villages home.
