Default Cut large roots growing under lanai

There is a large tree on the golf course that has roots growing under my lanai, causing it to crack and raise up quite a bit. Soon, it may cause damage to the pool.

I have contacted one tree service, but they did not show for the estimate, so am looking for suggestions for another.

Has anyone has this done? If so, who did it?

Thanks!

Do you remember that thread where a sprinkler was shooting recycled water from the golf course into a guys pool? When he finally got in touch with the right people, they fixed his problem right away and paid to have his pool refilled.

Don't just talk to someone who answers the phone. The tree is on their property. Please tell us what happens.

Thanks, Gracie, I called someone who told me it was a golf course problem. The course groundskeeper came out and told me to hire an engineer. $$$

I'll search for the sprinkler and I think in the other paper, a lady did have success getting TV to help. Will do further research.

Give home warranty a call even if the home is not under warranty, they should have a good contact for getting the correct people involved. If there is damage to your house, I would expect the golf course to make it right.
Please keep us up to date.

Did you contact GMS about the roots and damage? I don't think one of the maintenance contractors has the authority to approve fixing the problem for you. Thus you were told to get an engineer at your expense. I would certainly pursue this through GMS and the district before spending your own money on a problem caused by Villages or developer's property. To me, it's no different than a neighbors tree causing a problem with your home.

My understanding through researching a similar situation is: In Florida, the portion of a neighbor's tree, such as a branch, encroaching on your property is your responsibility. You must take the action and pay the cost of cutting and removing the part of the tree overhanging your property. I assume it is the same for tree roots. Also, if your actions cause the tree to die, you may be responsible for costs to replace it.

I think Mikeod's idea to talk to Golf Management System is a good one. You could start with the manager of the particular golf course and go on up to Todd Basso at the top. Put them on notice in writing, documenting the damage, to see if they will do anything about it.

Would it hurt to call your homeowners ins. They might have an opinion

GMS has spoken! I went to GSM office and was referred back to the course where we live. The manager came out and said they do not do anything on private land, but I could hire a service to cut the roots.

I will hire a tree service to cut the roots, and then have my lanai reworked to make it right again.

Thank you to all who replied. I do appreciate each and every suggestion.
