Default Fans and Installation

We're building a new house in Buttonwood but decided to pass on the high cost of fans installed by the Villages. Can anyone recomend someone to install the fans that we're going to purchase seperately? Any recommendations on a good place to purchase at least 5 fans? Do thet come with installation included? Thanks..

Default Dan's Fan City

Try "Dan's Fan City" in Beall's Plaza, Leesburg (Hwy 27/441). Phone #352-326-9018. They have a great selection and are very knowledgeable about the inner-workings, motors and such. Sometimes they have an ad in the Daily Sun and offer $25 off any fan over $100. They also install free for fans over $199.

Default Suggestion

If your not going to get the fans, at least have the electrical work done during building.

We liked BESCOs in Lady Lake...they have some great fans that have "Designer" looks..reasonably priced ($100-150). Definitely not a BiG BOX store but I think the quality and design show.

This is very true. Have them install the reinforced outlets so that they will support the fan's weight.

I also had them put a rheostat on the light switches at the entry areas. When I had the ceiling fans installed, I had them put on light kits and rewire the switches to turn on the light on the fan instead of the wall socket.

I used Lake Ceiling Fans. I am not sure if they still exist but they had free installation of all fans. Dan's Fans charged for installation.

Default Ceiling fans

I agree with the previous posters...Dan's Fan City has a great selection of fans and they can advise you the proper size motor/blades for each room.Their electrician is reasonably priced and gets things done quickly. Check the Daily Sun for Dan's Fan City coupons or go online for one of their coupons. We are happy with their pricing and services.Slowly but surely we are replacing the pathetic fans the Villages installed in our inventory home (and charged a ridiculous price for cheap Hunter fans you can purchase at Home Depot for about $29).

Could you please share how much the installation of a fan is when you build?
I absolutely agree that the electrical work and reinforcement is going to be expensive. Fan cost is minimal. Lowes and Home depot have good prices on ceiling fans.

Back in 2001 it was $82 for the fan outlet with standard switch. With lighted rocker it was $94. That is what they charge you even if you order the fans from them.

I preferred Lake Ceiling Fans over Lowe's/Home Depot. In case of problems or upgrades, Lake was there.

Default lowes

lowes has good fan that don't cost $200++ you can get a good fan for $70-$110. you might be able to get a fan put in for $30-$40, if you buy a $250 fan. I would rather buy a $80 fan and pay $99 to have it put in with a electrical contractor vs a handy man that works for the fan shops.

The installer for Dan's Fan City is a licensed electrician with his own business. The fan installations are just a small part of his business.

Hearty endorsement for Dan's Fan City. The same for his electrician - he is great and will do follow-up work for you too. You can spend as little as you want or as much as you want, mix and match fans, lights, blades. If you want a fan go to a fan store. The big box stores are an option, but not one I chose after going every place within 30 miles of TV.
