Do TV fitness centers have a lot of free weights and free weight stations available. How about MVP. When we visited one fitness center on our LSV, I was not impressed with the size of the center or selection of equipment I saw at that facitlity. Looked more like what you see in a hotel than a serious gym. Hoping the newer fitness centers have improved. I am primarily interested in free weights as I run outside and do not use the aerobic machines. Any current info much appreciated.

Your best bet is MVP in Spanish Springs.

MVP Sport Club does have free weights and that section of the gym is not usually crowded when I go there in the early afternoon. They have dumbells up to 90lbs.

They have 3 Olympic barbell benches with plate weights, and a Smith machine. There are also loads of plate weight cable machines. There's are at least 2 dozen treadmills for those rainy days you'd like to run indoors.

There's many classes that come free with membership; like spinning, group power, group active, boot camp and more. As a lifter, like me, you will probably benefit from the group power class. It's a full hour of lifting to music and targeting every muscle group in your body in that hour. You control the amount of weight you lift. It's entertaining and effective.

Check out their website as recommended

My thinking is a light jog over there from the gym for a great coffee (about 65 calories), and a jog back to the gym or your golf cart and you've burned that coffee off. That's my story and I'm sticking with it

Good story, Richie.

Is jogging to Dunkin' Donuts just for the coffee like subscribing to Playboy Magazine just for the articles?

Don't knock it. It's one of the few magazines I can 'read' without remembering by reading glasses

The cost for a couple is $90 a month and if you leave for a month or more you can make your membership inactive.

It's a great facility. Love the classes. I find working with other people and getting to know them keeps me motivated. (Also the club manager is great . . . just happens to be my son . . . so take what I say with a grain of salt!)
