Default Loved FlatRate for my move from NJ to TV

I have nothing but high praise for FlatRate. I found out about them from this forum (TOTV), got estimates from 3 different movers before deciding to go with FlatRate, couldn't be more pleased. I inventoried my home, provided them with a spreadsheet of my inventory and dimensions of furniture, along with an estimate of the number of boxes I would have, got an estimate and that was exactly what I paid in the end. I also had them store the contents of my house (in NJ) for few months before they transported it to the Villages. Everything was securily and nicely wrapped, not ONE item was damaged nor lost in storage nor transit from NJ. They were about HALF the price of the estimates I got from 2 other movers. I have nothing but high praise and regard for FlatRate for a move from NY/NJ/CT area. PM me if you'd like more details.

I used Flat Rate to move here from NY in 2009.Their estimator was very knowledgeable and fair, their price was fair, they stored my stuff for 2 months for a very low fee. I was very pleased and would recommend them.

We used Flat Rate for a shipment from the SF Bay Area to TV. They put sequential colored number tags on each piece being shipped and when they unload you check off each piece number. There was one number missing when they unloaded; two weeks later a truck delivered the missing article that turned out to be a particle board door for a inexpensive garage storage cabinet that we didn't even miss. The driver called from Georgia to confirm we would be home that afternoon and he said he would make the trip down to deliver the item!

We later used them for a shipment within Norcal (to Lakeport) and they sent two trucks and two crews to do the job that could have been done by one truck and crew but would have taken twice the time.

Did those of you who used Flat Rate --did u do everything online or did you have a rep cone out to give you the estimate? Did they do any packing for you or just moving?

When I initially was researching movers in early 2010, I did my research on line then called and spoke to a FlatRate customer service rep (Dejon) who was very responsive and attentive. After speaking to him, I decided to do my own inventory (rather than have someone come to my home) and emailed Dejon my spreadsheet, which he based my estimate on. First estimate I got March 2010, and then resubmitted my spreadhsheet a week before my move and the cost actually went DOWN. FlatRate handled my move out of NJ in May 2010, storage May-Nov 2010, and final move from storage in NJ to TV in Nov 2010. Dejon was my point of contact by phone and email at all times, and responded within MINUTES to every email or phone call. I packed everything except lamps and pictures as per FlatRate, and Ben (team lead for NJ move) wrapped and packed all lamps and pictures and did NOt charge extra for any of the many boxes he used for lamps and pictures. That was built into the cost they had already guaranteed. All in all, I couldn't be more pleased. No surprises whatsoever, quite the opposite, exceeded my expectations.

Dejon was my rep also. He's terrific.
