Default Front door hardware/handles.

We recently had our home painted and are now looking to replace the builder, sun faded lever door handles.

I have looked at Lowes and Home Depot and was unable to find what we need.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

When we redid the kitchen in our home in Cincinnati I used this site;

Cabinet Hardware - Cabinet Knobs, Handles & Pulls, Door Hardware, Bathroom Accessories, Switchplates on sale

If you are looking to replace it with the same thing, call the warranty dept and they will tell you the brand & who installed it.

Check out Amazon. Try Googling Door Hardware with your Zip Code = WWW.doorhardware32159. That should do the trick.

btk: I ran into the same problem. the sun faded my front door handle...kind of yellowed it. I went to Lowe's spoke with them and they told me that they did not have a product there that would not eventually succumb to the sun. I have brushed nickel door handles. so I tried some very fine steel wool and it cleaned it up almost to original. I intend to work on it more. I am leary about using a metallic cleaner

In the meantime I will continue to search out if such a sun resistant product is available If I do I'll post it

I used the Schlage that uses a 4 digit combination. You can program up to 19 different combination and change or delete them as needed. This allows you to give someone the code and remove when they no longer need it and keep your main code the same. No outstanding keys anywhere. Can be changed by you with a master code so no more locksmith needed. Uses a 9 volt battery so works even if power is out.

When you get your handle cleaned to where yo want, go to the automotive store, and buy CLEAR paint for WHEELS. This paint is very hard, and non yellowing. I have used it to coat brass with excellent results.

NOTE: cover the key hole, and use a good lubricant around the mechanism before painting, be sure to clean up an spills, so that if the paint gets into the cylinder area, it will not stick.
Hope this helps.

Contact Kwikset at 1-800-327-5625, they replaced mine when the finish tarnished. Life time warranty.
