So we have the original solid front door on our Jasmine home. I have been looking for someone to replace the door with one that has glass in it, and install a screened entry. A few questions:
1. What is the original entry door made of? Got to call warranty to find out.
2. Is there anyone that can install a new entry door with glass in it, and do the screen also? looking for recommendations.
3. What is the deal with Fiberglass versus wood vs Steel doors, which is best and most economical?

Looking for recommedations. My wife wants 3/4 glass like this....

We used them for a half-door insert. Very pleased with the installation. Glass is beautiful & lets in a lot of light to our living room.

I have a beautiful, high quality fiberglass door that replaced the original "builder's" model about four years ago. It was purchased from Lowes and they installed it. The door is still perfect and the installation was completed without a hitch. They also installed a high quality Larson storm door.

I’ve had all three doors.
1.You can paint a metal door, but it fades quickly even with oil based paint. It is the cheapest to purchase. Lightest of the three, but fire proof.
2. Wood doors with glass are beautiful, they feel great when you open them, they seem balanced with some weight to them. They can be painted and the paint doesn’t fade as fast.
3. Fiberglass is medium priced and can be painted, but I never remember repainting it because it faded like the other two types. Lighter than wood opening, not sure if it would last 20 minutes in a fire.
Lastly, I have at my ranch, a wood, full stained glass door I love! But remember that they are easy to break into a home; they don’t insulate cold or heat from coming in and people can see when you are home from movement if the rest of the house is closed with drapes and there is a light on somewhere. Personally I have a drape wall rod with matching my other drapes mounted above the door, which I close when I’m gone, at night or when it’s cold or hot.
They are beautiful doors, but talk with her about the security, budget for one and what to do if you aren’t at home. My ranch is rural, so when gone to TV, I like the drape it closed even though we have security and cameras, some poacher could shot through the glass at night if it wasn’t draped. My thoughts only, you have to fall in love with the glass pattern and cost.
