Default GE Refrigerator

We had a problem with our GE Refrigerator. The ice maker worked however there was no water coming out from the tube inside the door. A neighbor suggested we unplug the refrigerator for 3-4 hours and see if that would help. We did and it did work. This happened once before and we had a service person come out and charge big bucks to 'repair' it. Just wanted to pass on this tip.

You will have the problem again. The way they designed the placement of the tubing that brings the water to the door, it passes to close to the freezer inside wall and freezes. By installing a mini heater along the freezer wall where the tube passes, it will keep the water line from freezing. This is a known design problem with these double door GE refrigerators. Cost of doing this is about $100. If you are living there full time and use the door water a lot, you will probably never so the problem. If you tend to only be a snow bird, or monthly visitor, you will have this happen.

And it usually takes more then a few hours to thaw. More like 8 to 10 hours.
