Thinking about adding gutters all around or at least by the garage doors and
Lanai. New to the area - so what do you think? Has anyone used Stipes? |

Oh, you will need gutters for sure. IF you haven't been here when we get a good gully-washer rain shower you'll know why! Not sure what Snipes is though. Is that a vendor??

Wait till we start with the downpours and you will immediately know where you need gutters. Probably don't need to do the whole house - don't know what Snipes is either.

Not sure who Snopes is. Just kidding ... Stipes. We used Hill's and they did a fine job. The # for Hill's Seamless Gutters is (352) 245-7462.

We used Hill's. Put them all around our house (an Ivy). Cost $700. Just had them done middle of January. They also installed our attic stairs (not included in $700). Very nice guy.

We have an Iris and you cannot get out of lanai due to the rain gushing off the roof onto the cement pad. We put them across the back and over the lanai on the sides. We used Hill also.

Several guys put then in for about a $1 a foot, so it's pays to shop it.

Ditto with our Begonia. Then we noticed a stain line across the driveway when we returned after the summer, so we did the front and across the porch too. We didn't do across the den window as wanted the water to reach the landscaping.

I questioned the need for gutters also. Ask some of the people that have lived in the area (not TV) for years and see what they say about gutters. The people that I talked to said they weren't necessary.
I personally think it's better to have the water spread out all around the house instead of gushing down into a few spots. I do think a gutter over the lanai door would be beneficial though. Another thing to consider is whether you have hip roof or gable roof. The gable roof will throw the water to the sides, whereas the hip roof will dump water all around. That might require gutters over the garage area.,

Also consider using rain barrels on the down spouts, they will fill up then slowly drip the water water out mitigating flooding or heavy wet areas

I like having the gutters all around. It keeps the water from digging a moat around your house.

I believe you should carefully control the amount of water dumped adjacent to your slab. Water affects the weight bearing capacity of the soil, and too much could cause settling. Also, damp soil is very attractive to a wide variety of insects, including termites. Move the water away from the house.
