We want to warn other Villagers that the owner is unreliable. He does not adhere to times and dates. We called him about a job to be done and left 3 messages on one day. He did not return the calls. When you have a conversation with him our advise would be to record the conversation.

Thumbs down

I have also had a problem with Mike Hogan..the man appears to be very charming and helpful, will promise to do anything you want him to do. He will begin a job not finish i and then not answer your phone calls to him..Beware, he is not reliable or trustworthy at all. The sad thing is that because he has such a nice personality..you think you can beleive everything he says..

Thumbs down consruction

gmoney: have you used Mike, since you are in the same line of work. Or do you know him. I also had work done which is still not completed. He also ,
lives in Bison Valley were you live and his two girl go to school there. His wife also teacher's there. I was really impressed by his gift to snow someone. Looks like he talks a good talk but never finishes or lives up to his commitments or promise, when things don't go his way, he bad mouths the customer with payment in hand. Used him for a small job will not use him again will let all my village friends know.

Yep I know who you are talking about. I have no complaints with him. He has helped me I dont know how many times. Really nice guy. That is why I was like are we all talking about the same cat.. I can not speak for his work habbits in TV, I havent hired him for anything so I can not comment on that. His family is real nice, liked in Bison Valley.

But you never know. This I can tell you, The Villages is the wrong place to make people mad by not finishing a job or making the customer mad, because the word will spread.

Hi my name is Mike Hogan and I run a 1 man maintanance business in The Villages. I would like to take a moment to reply to the messages that JB Mattis has posted along with BETHPAGE BLACK, I have done work for the Mattis's for the past 12 months, they have trusted me with a key to thier house to paint and other maintanence projects, I have been to thier house about 60 times, all the work was completed with no complaints, the issue arrised when JB mattis wanted me to cancel other jobs that were already scheduled to do some tile work for her. I could not reschedule so in turn she has posted wrongful and hurtful information about me and my business.

I would like to respond to BETHPAGE BLACK's response. This job was a referral from JB Mattis, I completed the installation of the storm door with no complaints, which is why I don't understand why she is saying it was not completed. Again posting wrongful information just to help out a friend.

Mike:

Let me say that I am not associated with any of the posters here. But I do follow the post to see who I will and will not use to work on my home. Attacking the posters does not make me more confident in you and your company.

You would be better served to work out you differences with the posters and have them update us. A bad reputation whether deserved or not will kill you business in short order.

No contractor will make every customer happy every time but bad communication that results in bad references is poison.

Just some free advise

Update on my post,, Mr Hogan installed a storm door on May 14th, which he stated he would have to come back next day to put a spacer on the bottome because door didnt fit properly and was a common problem in the villages and he had no problem fixing it, I full paid him for the job and closed the house to return up north. I called Mr Hogan to ask if he went back to fix the door he never returned the call..Waited a few days called again..no response, I called 4 times and today I guess because he is having so many problems with not meeting committments, he did return my call today to say that the door was completed the next day June 12th wanting to now why we kept calling him. I responded that if he had returned my first phone call and inquiry, there would have been no issue.
Futhermore he was highly recommended by JB Matis to me and many others which is why I hired him. I have learned that when I hire someone, I have them do a small job first and see if they can accomplish it completely and to my satisfaction before I allow them to do other work for me.
I will always check TOV before hiring anyone. People who post here are posting for a reason to alert their fellow villages..Then you choose who you want to hire.

I would also add to this deal, If there is a communication issue that it could be on both parties involved. Sounds as if the job was done. I refered people to call Mike. I have checked with them since these post have come up and none of them have issues with the work. They were all very happy.

As I said earlier in this post, Mike has helped me on some projects. I would recommend his services to all....

One thing I have observed about dealing with seniors in general, and dealing with Villagers in particular, is that you can get away with a lot of shady, underhanded, and not-so-nice practices as long as you will talk to them and discuss things. For them, hope springs eternal that y'all can work it out. Once you start ducking their phone calls, ignoring their voice mails, failing to return voice mail messages, or just not communicating with them, their hope that the issue can be worked out goes away. They don't get mad - they get even - any way they can. Here it sounds like that lack of communications (some people are crass enough to even call it good manners) broke down and "get even" took over. People who do work gotta learn to communicate with their customers - regularly and often.
