Question Homeowner's Insurance Help

We are now embarking on obtaining homeowner's insurance for our Camellia in Pennecamp with the closing scheduled for July 7th. We were referred to an agency thru Citizens First Mortg. as our insurance carrier in NJ doesn't insure Fl. homes. We would like to get the most bang for our buck and would gladly appreciate any recommendations you guys have. Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
This is certainly a great site with great people offering valuable information.
Thanks
Skip & Sue

Thanks for the welcome Skip, we'll be part-timers for awhile but hope and pray we'll be full time in a year(come on stock market). Never gave the golf cart a thought about insurance. Good heads up.

Hi Skip and Sue,
We also used The Villages insurance agency in Colony Square. However, we used a separate State Farm agent for our golf cart. We took advice of others who said it is better to not include your cart on your homeowner's policy. That way, if you have a claim on your golf cart, it doesn't count against your homeowner's policy.

Here is some info that was posted recently on TOTV regarding homeowners insurance in FL. Go to the web site and click on Sumter County.

Default Premiums are not correct

Check with insurance agencies in the area to get actual quotes. I can assure you the premiums posted on the website are not correct.

I found this site when we was shopping for homeowners insurance and was so excited. But when I got back quotes from the listed providers, none of them correlated with the list.

Best quote we received was from The Villages agency.

AAA in La Plaza Grande also recommended not adding the golf cart to homeowners insurance and got us a 100/300 Liab golf cart policy with Progressive. W/o uninsured motorists = $69/yr; with 100/300 for uninsured motorists came to $99/yr.

How does that compare to State Farm?

Default Insurance Info

Hi -

We just got our insurance an agent at The Villages/Colony Plaza location and were very pleased as well - great idea! Really appreciate that comment about the golf cart - separate policy, never would have thought about that. Thanks.

Default golf cart/homeowner's insurance

Allstate has a stand alone golf cart policy that is very competitive. As low as $ 5.00 month. They also have competitive homeowner's insurance.

Which rating example did you use? In case you did not see it you can set the rating to show you average pricing for homes built prior to 2001 with a value of $150,000 or you can set the rating to show you pricing for new construction built in 2005 with a value of $300,000.

When I use the $150,000 rating the quotes we received over the last two years do not match the chart. But when I switch to the $300,000 new construction the same insurance company quotes match the chart perfectly.
