Default Honda Repairs

I drive a Honda Accord. Outside of the Honda dealerships, are there any local repair shops which are both reputable and reliable. The closest dealerships are a decent distance (14 miles) away.

Ojm, what type of repairs did you need done. I worked at a honda dealer from 1976 till 1985 when I opened up my own honda repair business in Maryland from 1985 to 2000. We only worked on hondas and acuras (a honda product). I know that there is a local place that the owner used to work at a honda dealer. I found it for my neighbor in the yellow pages. Try looking there, if you cant find it I will ask my neighbor for the number.

You are so better off going to a honda tech. Usually that means the dealer. Cars are much more complicated today than they were 20 years ago. Having a tech who only works on hondas and uses genuine honda parts is worth the extra money you will spend.

Jeffy,

Right now I don't need any repairs. I was trying to gather information before a problem arises. I have 80K miles and still have the original brakes, muffler, timing chain and battery. Also, I'll need new tires soon. I was hoping someone could at the very least, recommend a good shop for general maintenance work such as what I mentioned above.
Would you know if any of the local dealers drive you home and pick you up if you need service? I would like to own only one car if possible.

I had brakes done and fluids changed on my Honda Pilot at the Goodyear dealer right by Home Depot. They did give me a ride home and also picked me up when the car was ready. I bought tires there in January but walked over to HD and shopped a bit while I waited.
I was happy with the quality of their work and their honesty. All of them seem too darned expensive though!

ofm, the place i found in the yellow pages for my neighbor was Gary Smith Auto, 347 2222

They are in Belleview. Since I do all my own work I really dont know about rides to/from the repair facilities.

What model and year honda do you have??? I could probably make some recommendations as to things you should get done.

Jeffy,

I have a 2003 Accord but this question applies to my other 2005 Honda also. Neither car requires any work at this time. But having been here all of two weeks and knowing that the closest Honda dealers aren't really close at all, I was hoping there was reliable service closer to The Villages. Eventually, I would like to have one car and a golf cart. But if having one car will create a continuing hardship everytime some maintenance is required, then I'm reluctant to only own one car. I'm a bit surprised this topic has not been discussed in this forum by other car owners.
