Need to check Angie's List for Elite. Apparently they are having some issues.

We had Blackburn Construction put in our glass windows 3 years ago. They were very reasonable then, very dependable, and the job was completed less than two weeks.

We also had Blackburn but unlike the earlier poster we were not satisfied at all. They stated that they would complete the job in one to two weeks but took numerous months before the job was finally complete. We had to call the owner of Blackburn constantly and yet we would never see him show up our job site. He would later say that he had come to our home at 5:00 or 5:30 AM. Well, we wanted to see him to point out the problems and we weren't up at that hour.

His subcontractors didn't speak english and there was a lack of communication between the owner to the sub-contractors over what we wanted done, which in the end meant re-dos.

It was a disaster that took forever to complete. I will be the first to recommend a contractor as we have used many since we bought our home, but I cannot recommend Blackburn for this job.

Can not recommend Custom Windows & Exterior Design, many problems. Took months not weeks as promised. Worst of all, window in new exterior door fell out, and the glass sliders were installed with mud from shipping all over them. Installer was kind of rude and snippy about it. Glass shavings left all over our patio, poor dog! Folks in the office took care of all the problems, but who needs these kinds of things? Keep looking is our advice.

Hi, We are looking to enclose our lanai and got an estimate from Custom Windows. Can you tell me if they installed single or double pane glass in your lanai? Are you satisfied with the work and quality? Trying to determine what type of window we need to install and whether we need to insulate or not.
Thanks for your time.

My son is licensed in the aluminum construction and roofing business - but - distance would be a problem. We suggest you use a localL reputable licensed contractor for a couple of reasons: (1) they are close by to respond for warranty work. (2) they can most likely give you LOCAL job references to check out their work. Good Luck!

Whoever you use, make sure they get all the proper permits. I have heard of contractors that don't get the permits and that just leads to headaches for you down the road. We just had our lanai extended and the golf cart garage extended. We had 3 extimates and all 3 were within $1000 of each other. We used T&D because of their reputation. The inspector told me once when he was here that he didn't have to worry when he did an inspection on one of their jobs. If you want to get an estimate, call T&D and ask for Scott Bowling.

I see several notes on Elite Lifestyles here. I just had a job completed by them this week, we signed the contract the first week of October, and here we are , Feb. 14 th finally finished !!!!! They have a great product, that is why I used them, but service ? It is Terrible to say the least. First sub for concrete work, could speak no English. This was a simple lanai enclosure, we were assured it would be done by Christmas, our mistake was asking what Year ! Again, if you have a lot of patience , the product is good, but get ready to wait !
