We are about to close on our home in Buttonwood. Soon we will be installing internet & TV service. Does everyone have to use Earth Link to install their service?
I have read in earlier TOTV links about some bad service from Earth Link. Let me know what you have experienced & the company that installed your Comcast. Getting excited ![]() ![]() ![]() Pat |

1. You do not have to go through Earthlink. You go directly to Comcast. Your installation will either be by a Comcast employee or by one of their contractors. If you currently have an Earthlink email address, you can keep that by simply notifying Earthlink that you wish to do so and pay a modest fee. 2. If you wish to have "new" HD boxes and/or HD DVR, you will most likely have to go directly to the Comcast office in Summerfield to get it. The installers generally bring whatever they get from the warehouse. Our first install resulted in 2 old HD boxes and an old DVR. The DVR did not record and one of the HD boxes was dead on arrival. 3. Comcast has a total lock on cable for the Villages and you can tell. They are very nice, but the attitude is take it or leave it. 4. Pay attention to the installer when he is putting in the outside cable box. Make sure he uses one large enough to completely hold all of the cables. Ours used one too small for the number of cables required and just left the open door hanging with cables dangling. Good luck and welcome.

Thank you for your welcome & advise. It is helpful. I will, as you said, inspect the cable box.
Also----------welcome also to TV. Are you somewhat settled yet? |

Hey there Indyman and Pat. We will be moving to TV before the end of the year also. We'll be in Pennecamp and will probably use Comcast. What do you mean, Indyman, by the box outside? We have Comcast here in VA and everything comes in on one cable and splits up once inside the basement. Now, I realize there will be no basement in TV, but how do they split the signal up to the various TV's in TV?

We are considerably more settled than two months ago, but I am still able to only get one car in the garage. Totally loaded up with unpacked boxes. If we had a golf cart, it would have to reside on the lanai. We are definitely a "work in progress".

All the cable for your house is prewired. Already laid out for each room. The cable company just gets them out of the wall and place them into a box to be merged with the single line coming from the street. You can have Direct TV as your cable provider. That's what I have and it works great. I will just get high speed internet from the Comcast.

Indydealmaker - sorry about bungleing your name earlier. About how far is it from, lets say Spanish Springs, to Springfield Comcast office? My wife and I wil be staying in a rental beginning Nov. 1 and I believe it's near SS.

Sorry, I did not see your question sooner. Summerfield is quite close to Spanish Springs. Ten minutes maybe.

We just moved into TV in Sept contacted Comcast to install the $10 special with a $20 install sounded great for what I wanted. When the installer show up right on time (I was impressed) he ask how many jack to activate. We have a 2br CYV so I told him 3 jack even though I only had 1 television. In Iowa it was the same price for one or a hundred jacks so I was surprised when I received my bill and saw the extra $50 install charge $25 for each additional jack. I will know better and ask next time.
