Default LandScapers

Just closed in Sanibel and looking for a landscaper. Would like to get any suggestions that recommend or to stay away from. Have seen a few houses that I plan on knocking on their door to see who they used. Would appreciate any input.

If you do a search on this forum, there are plenty of suggestions in previous threads. Also consider the sponsors of this forum.

Mansfield Landscaping

If you get a hold of one of his flyers you will find a list homes to see. Please don't just look at the homes. Stop and talk to the owners and let them tell you about how they feel about his work.

There are two homes on Evinston Court in Sanibel for a start. If you want more addresses, PM me and I will give them to you.

You can talk to his customers a year and two even two years after he does the work and see if they would use him again. I know a couple on this forum have hired him again after they moved, or to upgrade their landscaping.

Check out his nursery in Yahala...... Very impressive.

Check him out.

Extremely happy with results from Village Palms on Rt 466 on right side before Rolling Acres Road. Several of our neighbors have used them since our yard was done in March 2010 and everyone is happy.

KGL Landscaping did our home in Charlotte. Kevin and Jeannie Gokey are wonderful to work with, will stay within your bidget, LISTEN to what you want, and make wonderful recommendations for plantings native to the area. 352-342-5330

As this TOTV has gotten somewhat agressive against landscapers mostly by outta state wannabe's and confrotational computer keyboard terrorists I am somewhat hesitant to post this.

I went with Mansfield for these reasons.

I felt this company would stand behind the work performed after job completion. His employees are on a official payroll. He is insured

He pointed out to me several other contractors as doing quality work did not bad mouth them.

Their Palm Trees are hardened for 10-12 weeks before transplant and the rootballs are large enough to not need supports

You can go to his nursery for advise and to pick out your plants. Or he brings about 70 with them to the site and you pick em out.

You are not over sold or forced into more than you can afford. Worked with my budget and gave me some extras.

I am 100% happy with the crew and installation process for the front and sides. Done in one day and cleaned up. No yard waste dumped into empty lots .

I am 50% happy with the small patio. It was my call as I tried the look of a small natural field stone patio experiment. It looks great but may have to have some more work betweed the stones .Will have to see if it holds up. But Steve assured me if it did not he would rip it out or repair it. How can you be upset with that service.

I will warn you if your are offended by a strong proud of his work independant personal image you may be somewhat indimidated. As I have been in the service industry for 34 years I appreciated his pride and devotion to community and his business.

His business promotional agent came and took some before and after pictures. I have not seem them yet. Maybe if they read this they can post them for you to look at.

We wanted a simple real stone natural look. I did not want walls everywhere. I used a combination of covert green heavy duty edging and real field stone. I live next to a cow pasture and it reminded me of my home in Camillus NY and the farmers limestone walls.

I hope you give him a chance to compete for you business.

I'd suggest you get estimates from more than one landscaper. I got estimates from Stellar, McGowan and Terrascapes. I could have chosen any of them, but ultimately went with the one that gave us a plan that suited our wants... TerraScapes!

Landscapes by McGowan is excellent and reasonable.
In addition to design and installation, they built a very nice natural stone wall in one area. Call Sabrina at 274-4189.

Another vote for Terrascape.

I did not have a good experience with these people. My neighbors are very happy with both Mansfield and Dean's and their palms and plants are healthy and gorgeous (unlike mine). Both of these companies come back and fix/replace plants that are not doing well or dying (unlike my company). They take no money until they are done and you are satisfied (unlike KGL). Wish I went with them.

Default McGowan gets our vote!!

We used McGowan landscaping and are very happy with the results. They now have a program they put on the computer to show you their design. They didn't have that when they did ours. Sabrina and her husband Patrick, are there to supervise the project and you can be as involved in the process as you would like. We have found their customer service to be wonderful and Sabrina really knows her plants and flowers. Happy to have you look at our house. PM me if you would like to come take a peak!!
