Default Lawn Maintenance

I'm not sure how to exactly go about this.

I'm not soliciting you to advertise any company which would get me in big trouble with the administrators. I reviewed ads posted here but personal recommendations are what I'm looking for.

So, here's my dilemma.

We have a lawn maintenance company who just raised their price. We didn't mind paying $35 a month to maintain our patio villa property but $40 a month seems a little higher than normal for just mowing grass. It takes all of 5 minutes at most to do the job.

There may be another thread addressing my question of who else I can hire for a better price. If so, please let me know.

I'd love to find a company that would accommodate summer mowing needs vs. winter mowing needs.

I'm open to any pm's for private recommendations.

I'm thinking the price of gas is going to cause alot more of the lawn maint. folks to increase their rates. Ours has already "hinted" at it if gas prices continue to increase which we all know will happen.

Ours has kept the same rate but has added a monthly 'gas surcharge' of $3. Doesn't seem unfair to us; we know what's happening with gas prices. However, for different reasons I'd also be interested in PMs about highly recommended lawn mowing services. Thanks!

I have the name of a really good, reliable service. They'll basically go from Mallory Square north. To do south of there, they really need more than one or two clients to go there. So, if you're in Hadley, Hemingway, the Traces, Duval, etc. get a few neighbors or someone a street or two away from you and grab these people. They do prefer an annual contract -- they come at least once a month in the winter and weekly in summer. Their rates are fair. They've been in business here for four years, so they're not going away and this is their livelihood. Baker's Lawn Service 638-2400. Tell 'em Dee sent ya! (No, I don't get a dime for referring them, I just like their work ethic.)

I'm trying to get the name of another service that I've heard of and seen his work. He will go south even for one lawn. Soon as I get his name, I'll give a shout out. Again, a great work ethic and really cares about his profession.

Beware of paying for lawn services in advance. In the past some unscrupulous services left their customers high and dry.

Have used Dawn & Joe Baker for over 1 1/2 yrs. Price has not been raised & they bill monthly. Mow in Hadley on Havana Trail early on Monday. Look for them. They show up when scheduled, do a great job, good pricing, care about your yard. Get a group together & they may cut a deal.

+/- $50 per month for cut, clip, and blow. We have a large yard. Well worth it IMHO.

They have to look at the yard to give you an estimate. It is a monthly rate basically broken down to how many times a year they mow (they require an annual contract). So, you'll pay the same summer and winter even though they only come twice a month during the winter. It really does even out and gives you a break during the 5-week summer months. They're not the cheapest but they're not the most expensive, either. I like that they're dependable, reliable and willing to go the extra mile when needed (like replacing sprinkler heads if they know they're broken). I really do think they're super.
