Default tile or pavers?

My lanai is 1/2 under roof and 1/2 open under a birdcage. My concrete is cracking, so looking to put either a rough textured tile or pavers. Most likely will be moving into assisted living in the next couple of years, so not wanting to spend too much on this. Need some suggestions please.

Just a quick answer. Somebody recently had pictures of cement pavers that he used in his lanai and pool area. Who was it? Jimbo? Skybo? One of you Bo's?

They were really nice looking, and half the price of tile. I'll try to find the thread. Meanwhile, research concrete pavers, or something like that. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I will try to find the thread.

(Ha ha, quoting myself! What fun). Here is the thread about the pavers. Finishing the Lanai Floor

Just an option for you. Our lanai is cracking too. T & D said they would spray a stucco-like coating over it and then paint it ($1/square foot ONLY because it's under warranty), but our tiler said that may shift/heave/ recrack. We can see evidence of cracking elsewhere in the house, so we're going with tiling with the underlay that prevents the tile from cracking.

However, if you will be moving in a couple years, maybe the spray coating would work. I don't know how much it is if you're out of warranty.

thanks CFrance for the site on these concrete pavers. Look really nice. Will definitely give this some thought. Will need a contractor, and may end up being more with the labor than a cost I got on tiles. The tiles are a rough coating, so great for outdoors. It was only going to be around $3000, and this included them sanding the spraycrete that is coming off of my lanai. Would never do this again because even though it makes the concrete look better for awhile, the concrete still eventually cracks and the spraycrete is now coming loose.

I would do pavers. Any tile will be bonded to the cement with thin-set mortar and new cracks may transfer through and crack the tile.

Pavers are glued in with special masonry calking type adhesive.

Underlying cracks should not come thru
