Default I can do it

I used to clean grills (had a business doing it) but no body wanted to pay what it was worth to do this tedious, messy job. If you send me a picture of your grill I can estimate it for you. Text to 352-300-2017

There was a franchise here, JB Grill Cleaning but they stopped doing free standing grills and now only do out door kitchens. I know he was always busy so there is a need. He also did repairs. I could use someone also...lol

I used to restore Weber Kettle and Weber Q-type grills as a hobby. I like to collect vintage Weber stuff. If you want it immaculate and shiny, it is A LOT of work and people will expect to be fairly compensated for their time, energy, steaming and other cleaning equipment, etc. Webers, IMHO are easier than outdoor kitchen types. Before they were made overseas, they had a very high quality porcelain enameled steel surface that was nearly indestructible and I could clean them with putty knives, 0000 steel wool and elbow grease.

If you simply want to lower your risk of a grease fire, that's easy:

1. Turn on grill to highest setting, once it reaches it, leave it there for 20 minutes to burn off anything on the grill or flavorizer surfaces;
2. Turn it off, let it cool all the way down to ambient temperature;
3. Put on latex gloves and some kind of breathing protection, like a paint respirator. Look for one that is good for fumes. ($25-$50 at Home Depot);
4. Spray the S.O.B. down with a can of industrial strength Easy-Off oven cleaner. Also available at HD.
5. Close the lid. Let it all marinate for a few hours. If this is a Weber kettle or similar portable grill, I put the grill surfaces and parts in a heavy duty 45 gallon trash bag and then spray it all down. Tie off the bag so it can marinate overnight. Make sure the respirator is on when you open the lid or garbage bad - the fumes are powerful and can be dangerous.
6. Take a plastic putty knife (about $2 at Home Depot) and scrape the insides down as thoroughly as will make you happy.
7. Vacuum up or push through drain holes into trash bag.
8. Reassemble and test.
9. Venmo or Cashapp over a $10 tip to me for all this great advice. I'm not VillageTinkerer, I don't work (much) for free and I'm probably not as nice a guy. You're welcome

Since my name was mentioned is a previous post, I asked my old neighbor who did theirs, and they do not remember (they moved a few years ago), however if you do an internet search there are several companies in the villages area, try grill cleaning services near me for your search. I think there may also be ads in the Daily Sun.
Sorry I do not have any direct experience to specify a company.

Once you get the grill cleaned, it’s best to keep it that way so you won’t be looking at repeated cleanings. Everything we cook on the grill goes on a cast iron pan/griddle. Once the pan gets really hot, throw on whatever you’re cooking. The pan is easy to clean, the grill doesn’t get dirty, and the food is delicious.

Do you also help with problems? We can’t get our grill to light. We have replaced the propane tank and had the gage checked at Ace hardware. We have replaced the regulator also. It still won’t light.

I would try two things:

1) Run a wire (coat hanger) through the burner tubes to get rid of spider webs that block the propane flow;

2) If not successful, then I would consider replacing the ignitor. Usually a $12-$25 piece and two screws - one for the red wire and one for the black.

Make sure you don’t have an airlock in the gas line. The best way to prevent getting an airlock is to always open the valve on the tank BEFORE turning on the grills burner control knobs. When turning off the grill, reverse the order (grill control knobs first, then the tank valve).

Most newer grills have either a piezo electric or battery powered ignitor. if piezo type, go out under low light conditions, open the grill (NO GAS turned), use a flashlight to locate the ignitor, and with the flashlight off press the ignitor button, you should see a blue arc, if not, you will need to replace the piezo unit. For the battery operated units, when it is quiet, just press the button with the hood open, you should hear a clicking sound, no sound, replace the battery and test again, still no sound make sure the battery is installed in the correct position. If you still get no clicking replace the battery powered ignitor.
