Hey Dot, hi, nice to see you posting.

Did you try Markets of Marion? I don't know about "right" in TV, but maybe some others could tell you.

See you soon.... K.

Dorothy ...

I bought my first mahjong card last year at the "Purple Pig" store in Lake Sumter.

The "Got Game II" store in the shopping center with Winn Dixie should carry them too.

You can buy poker chips there, too <g>

I just purchased one last week at The Purple Pig. I went to my first "instruction" game on Sunday and it did seem rather difficult although I understand people really get hooked and love the game.

Default Mah Jongg Lessons

ekdk92 -

Mah Jongg play times are listed on one of the first few pages of the weekly Recreation News under Mah Jongg Organized and Lessons. There might be other lessons available but I am not aware of them.
The paper lists the times as noon but most people are there by 11:30AM.
Advance sign up is not required.

Tuesdays @ noon - Laurel Manor
Fridays @ noon - Chula Vista
Sundays @ noon - Chula Vista

Laurel Manor on Tuesdays is very busy and noisy. IMHO, Chula Vista is a much better place to take mahjong lessons and the instructor, Joan, is great.

But beware -- the game is totally addictive!

The instructors at the Rec Centers have extra (current) cards for newbies to use while learning the game. The cards change every April.

Mah-Jongg tomorrow night, Thursday at Colony Cottage, starts at 6:30 but be there early to get a group to play with. I am just learning and love it already.

If you're a total newbie, you might want to start with lessons from Joan DiCarlo who an excellent teacher and she has extra cards. She is at Laurel Manor on Tuesdays and Chula Vista on Sunday (noon). It is quieter at Chula Vista and easier to learn there.

As Mik said, there is Mah Jongg at Colony Cottage Thursday night (but I don't think there is an instructor?) If you check the Rec News, there are Open games almost daily around The Villages.
