Default Mitsubishi Minisplit

I have a Mitsubishi Minisplit and like the Unit but am offering some maintenance advice.

Buy a spare remote. $32 delivered from EBAY and warranted.

My remote ceased working as I was changing batteries and time as daylight savings time ended. The Mini Split and remote was warranted for free replacement for 5 years. Labor not included.

Called installer (United Refrigeration) who dispatched a service rep. The service rep agreed and provided a temporary Remote as he did not have a new Remote. Today he stopped by to deliver the new remote and indicate the bill was $280. Apparently, I was being charged for a new remote, and two service visits at $120 each. I was expecting something up to $100 but challenged the charge and got installer (Office) to reluctantly reduce the amount to 1 visit charge.

The lesson learned was that I knew it was the remote. The installer office said that they couldn't take my word and had to verify and therefore incurred charges that I must pay.

I just bought a new spare remote. Will notify my friends with similar units, such that if they have what appears to be a remote issue, to see me.

Always ask for an estimate of charges before work is done?

You can buy a remote from Amazon, for almost any device imaginable. I bought one for my Fujitsu Mini-Split, for about $20. Yesterday, I bought (4) universal keychain garage remotes ... $19.
