Branch has always been great, quiet unit. Have app on the phone to check to see if it’s closed or open and close as necessary. Great people to work with.

The spring counters the weight of the door. You will probably need the springs no matter the opener.

What makes the most noise are the rollers. Get the nylon ones, they are very quiet. With a belt drive opener you'll be happy

If you have a chain drive unit, the chain and motor will make way more noise than the rollers. Try pulling the string to disengage the door from the chain and you will see how much noise the chain alone will make.

Default Garage door openers

There is a fourth type of opener, direct drive. Mine is a LiftMaster, VERY quiet and very secure, door automatically sets a deadbolt when closed. I have this in my Summer home in Michigan should be available in FL

Liftmaster is a Chamberlain. It's the same guts as a Chamberlain opener with specific features and a few models have bigger motors but the lower models are identical except a few cosmetic changes. It's sorta like the Lexus to the Chamberlain Toyota.

Ryan O'Cull is the best out there. I know because I dealt with 2 other companies before Ryan and wasted my time and money on them. No one but Ryan for my garage door from here on in!!

I have lift master openers in Missouri. They are much smoother and quieter than the MVP I have in TV.

We are looking for recommendations for a quiet door opener. I'm not sure what these new "smart" openers do but I don't think the smart features are a necessity. Just looking for a really quiet reliable garage door opener.

Upon doing some research, I see there are three different types of drives available.....
chain drive, screw drive and belt drive. I'm aware the chain drive is the loudest so we will eliminate that one. Of the two drives left, which drive do you recommend, screw drive or belt drive?

Many thanks in advance for your recommendations.

EDIT: After reading some old threads about garage door openers, I see Ryan O'Cull is highly recommended for the installation. We will most likely call him to do the installation.
Replace both springs, and have a qualified pro do it. Those things are dangerous if you do not know what you are doing, Have the professional installer inspect the cables and lube, adjust, and tighten or replace the hinges and rollers. Those cause most of the noise. Our Villages installed opener is 17 years old, and I cannot hear it in the house unless I listen for it. If you still need or want a new motor unit, I have had good service from both Chamberlain and Genie devices.
