Default safety plate on range - prevents tipping

Does anyone know who can install a plate on the floor under the range to prevent tipping? Thank you.

A range could tip when it's oven door is opened with weight upon it, such as a 22 lb. turkey.

If you buy a new range, the delivery person will install it for you. You can also buy one at any appliance store and install it yourself. If your floor is concrete, you will need a concrete drill bit and screws. They can help you out with that when you buy the plate.

Some will fasten to the wall also. My wife has MS. While baking pies she lost her balance and leaned/fell on the hot open oven door receiving serious burns. Days later we realized the stove had tipped forward enough to drop salt shakers etc. down behind the stove. Had there been something cooking on the stove top it would have dumped on her also. Thanks for the reminder to check on our stove in The Villages.

We found out the hard way with a disaster with my mother-in-law. The entire stove tipped over. Lucky she had just started to cook and the two pots of water had not come to a boil yet. When they came out to install the safety plate under the leg of the stove I asked the installation guy what other things I could have possibly missed. He told me the biggest item that causes problems is the dryer vent. I had a company come out the next day called Duct Dudes, I stayed with them throughout their service and was amazed at the amount of lint that they pulled from the entire dryer system that I had cleaned with my son about 60 days earlier. They have a industrial truck that has the biggest vacuum bags you ever saw that sucks out lint from places the eye can't see. $100 well spent and now we have a yearly appointment. Safety First.

The anti tip devise comes with the range. Installer is suppose to put that in. If your home is not that old I think I would go back to home warranty and ask why. Thats been that way for some time.

Interesting . I never heard of a range tipping over. But then I would never think of putting a heavy pan on the onen door. Would be afraid of bending the hinges out of whack

Most likely this should have been done by the appliance installers especially if your home is fairly new. Warranty should handle this since it is required for a proper installation.

How to install an anti-tip oven bracket - YouTube

Voluntary safety standards for gas and electric ranges require manufacturers to supply anti-tip brackets with new ranges. If this safety hardware was not provided or installed, check with the range manufacturer to determine if your range model should be equipped with an anti-tip bracket. Some manufacturers will send you a replacement bracket at no charge. If the anti-tip bracket has been installed, make sure that the range is held securely by the bracket.

The range does not have to tip over. All it has to do is tip enough to spill or slide the cooking contents on the top onto someone in front of the stove.
