I was told by a repair person after my LG died a month ago that if the fridge was manufactured before June 2013, no parts would be available so the only option was to replace

Make sure cooling coils aren’t clogged with dust. Easy diy fix.

I haven't had an LG in a while. The one I had was horrible. But when I had the problem, the freezer was iced up. Couldn't see it because the ice was behind the plastic at the back of the freezer. It was a french door style, freezer on the bottom. I'd recommend first removing everything and giving the freezer a good defrost. If that fixes it then you are good to go, but may need that defrost timer thing replaced as mentioned in a previous post, if it happens again.

It just seems like NO appliance last like the did. We have a GE dishwasher that kicks out it’s circuit breaker everytime it finishes washing the dishes.I’m thinking it’s a Heater that’s bad. Or I’m going to put a none GFI breaker in. I know you’re not suppose to if the breaker has anything to do with controlling anything that has to do with water. I did this with our refrigerator because everytime we were away on vacation & we had a power surge it would kick out all of our GFI breakers, & that was 14 breakers, 5 of them wouldn’t reset, & refrigerator was one of them. How stupid was that to have your Refrigerator on a GFI & spoiling everything in the Fridge. Nothing is like it use to be!

Our LG had the same issue after 10 years of uninterrupted use. Too costly to repair. It was the largest (33 cf) on the market at the time. Couldn’t replace it, had to settle with one smaller.

Do not, under any circumstances, purchase a Fridgidaire. Paid about $2600 for a Professional model and it started making a loud screeching noise at 3 weeks. Called CS and after going back and forth for 15 minutes due to language barrier, I finally got them to schedule a repair person in a couple of days. However they were 1.5 hours away and never showed up or called. Called the dealer and they were confused as to why those people were scheduled. They called one of their contractors but couldn't come for 2 weeks. Then it took 3 visits and 2 ordered parts at a 2 week wait inbetween each. In the meantime Fridgidaire decided that maybe they should send someone else since the first person never showed up, but when they contacted me I cancelled due to the fact the dealer guy was "working" on it. It's been 6 months now and every time it makes a funny noise I cringe.

Other problems.....Air filter cover kept falling off and since the filter goes into the cover, that made it useless until I finally got CS to send me a new one. Various design "flaws" that makes it inconvenient to use. Moral....Never buy something they don't have in stock from looking at a lower model.

Ours went after about only 3 years of use.
May want to consider a protection program, we've had good luck with the one sears offers.
