Default Best hairdresser and too much fun...

say "Kitty sent me"....and go get the most professional service you ever had.

I hate having my hair done, or I did until yesterday.
Walked in, no appt, to Dimensions at Colony Plaza. Waited for Yanni, next available hairdresser.
Would I like a glass of wine? sure.............wait...
I get Yanni, about 25 years old, dressed in a black vested outfit with hat, nice accent. I asked if he was Greek? No, the name is Greek but he is Albanian.
Would I like a glass of wine? sure
Snappy repartee, not for publication....

Yanni is training Drew in hair, but Drew is a natural at massage and does my shampoo. I don't want my hair done, I want to shampoo again.

Admiring his cut on the back of my curly head, Yanni looks at the back of my head and says, “that is beyootiful.”
Me: Can you say that to my face?
He parks his head on top of mine and looks in the mirror at us: “and now we must marry the front of the hair to the back.”
Me: I am beautiful and you want to marry me?

got the best cut and color I ever had, left able to drive, had lots of fun. Yanni is a Master at hair. When he touches it authoritatively and asks you minimal questions what you want...you know he's going to make you look good, if you don't limit him telling him exactly how to do it.

Yanni, Dimensions, Colony Plaza,
shampoo by Drew..

You can say Gracie sent me too because Yani has been cutting my hair for a couple of years and he doesn't disappoint. BUT he isn't cheap. And he does a good job with an old girl like me.

Now neither of us will ever get an appointment. Thanks Kitty.

Thought so - and how much are you paying for this wonderful treatment??? I haven't had a good haircut for about 40 years but found a young woman that cuts my hair like nobody ever for $28 plus tip. She gives me the most wonderful head massage I can't wait to go every month.

There is nothing better than finding someone that can actually give you a haircut that looks good from the start - not after a week and a half of growth. We all have a budget we need to live with which peaks my curiousity as to what you are paying.

47 dollars for cut and blow dry before tip. AND I still look like a 73 year old. We girls are hard to understand.

many guys reading this thread will agree with me: For $47 (let alone $150 asianthree!!!) We would expect a heck of a lot more than a couple of glasses of wine, a shampoo, a cut, and flirtatious banter, although a massage WOULD be a good start...

Just saying

What an amusing, entertaining read!

Very nicely done!!

gm....you didn't like this thread?

I want to go on record that I drink the coffee not the wine but "the fermented fruit fueled" part was unnecessary and ungentlemanly, but very quick and sarcastic.

And we women have known for years and have been so jealous that most men don't have to do a thing to look handsome. It ain't right.

OOh Grace has my back. it's the Girl's Spuirtgun Posse at work...
I was wholly unoffended by the comment---it seems in keeping with the humor about wine integrated in the original post.
GM, I enjoyed your comment. I'm glad you were tickled by my story, and am complimented by your appreciation of how I told it.
now kiss and make up.
MAKEUP! I have a free Merle Norman makeover Monday. I hope it's as much fun as the hair thing, but I'll bet it's byob.

Oh no! The dreaded failure of the written word to accurately convey connotation and intonation has struck again!

I meant no negative connotation, and absolutely did not intend to criticize anyone!

Allow me to try to explain in a Paula Dean overkill sort-of-way.
My implication was that: I am a guy who was watching sports. But I was bored enough to open up a thread about a hairdresser knowing that the thread would be a lady-centric topic. I attempted to inject some humor.

Guys don't usually pay a lot of money for a haircut. Many of us pay a single-digit or barely a double-digit amount for a haircut. My tongue-in-cheek attempt at humor was that if a guy paid the rates that ladies normally pay for a haircut, he would expect a different set of "services".

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not organize the girl's posse and come after me! I throw myself completely on the mercy of all whom I unintentionally offended. Is all forgiven?

George

How could anyone not accept a sincere Irishman's apology?

LOL, George!
I'll take the Fiskars, the bowls (assuming no dried paint in them), and the Lambrusco.
Or else, the girls will ride...with our beyootiful Yani-done locks blowing in the wind...

George, Yani parked his head on mine while I was in the chair simply by leaning forward. It entertained me to engage in what you call flirtatious banter with a guy 1/3 my age and a head taller than me while I sat in his high chair.
