Default Pest Control - Johnny on the spot

We literally just moved in Friday and on our door was a card for a Termite and Pest Control company, then today he shows up and tells us he needs to transfer the coverage from the Villages to them in order for them to provide us service. Of course, the Villages paid for a years worth of Termite coverage. So basically he wanted to have us transfer our coverage them and then they would continue with the coverage. I think this is just aggressive marketing but I wanted to check with anyone who has had this service. The people who came out are Dean's Termite and Pest Control. Does anyone have any experience with them? Thanks for your help.

When your home was built the termite protection was done by an outside contractor. Most likley Deans or Massey. They also offer continuation of service for a fee each year as well as other insect and fertalization services. There are many services available. We stayed with Massey (they did our original service) because it was easy for the first few years. We will reevaluate everything after we know more about the services available. We also found it a good idea to check with neighbors for all the services.

Default Hang on

You will be receiving many calls from pest control companies and water softner companies. Refer to Talk of the Villages or neighbors for help in who to select.

We have Deans and have no problem with them. Originally had Massey for pest and termite control, but switched to Deans a couple of years ago.

There are lots of companies that offer care here, take your time, talk to your neighbors, read on TOTV. Heck on our street I think there are 5 companies that treat for creepie crawlies... You don't have to sign contracts, we did for a bit and now just pay for each treatment. Cost a little more, no discount, but if I decide I need to switch to a different provider, it's easier.

Good luck, and welcome home!

In the first few days we were here we were visited by Dean's, Massey, Superior and some lawn guy who claimed to also have a pesticide license. Dean's came the day we closed and claimed they were dropping off a copy of our termite bond which was already paid for by The Villages for the first year. They also used that opportunity to talk to us about hiring them to control house pests.

Massey and Dean do a lot of work in The Villages. I have Dean's for termite coverage and house pests. Since Dean does not do lawn care, I hired Massey for lawn care. Both companies have been very responsive with problems I have had this past year. I had to call Dean's on three occasions for ant invasions (fire ants and moisture ants). One of the reasons I hired both Massey and Dean's was because of good recommendations on TOTV.

We use Deans and they have been very good. We bought a preowned home and it had not been treated in the past couple of years. Had to do a inspection and then we was put back on a plan. I have had good experience with them for termite and pest control.

Go back and look at that stack of papers you got when you purchased. There should be a document explaining your termite protection. Mine was for 10 years with an annual inspection with a charge. Massy

I was wondering about the etc. too. Do you need someone for inside and outside pest control ie ants, roaches, etc. immediately after closing?''

Has anyone had any experience with Alliance Pest Management, Inc. and a man named Tom Sears?

I have heard alot about "on the spot" exterminators. It is a business ploy. Not necessarily a bad one. But check around and get some estimates to determine what is best for you. We use Bates (north of 466) and have been OK with their service. Always come back if I perceive a problem.

Most of the companies I have seen in this area tend to try to treat 'interior' bug problems through prevention - keep them out of the house. They want to stop them on the perimeter and not have to put 'poison' around the interior of your house. They will come to do spot problems inside in necessary, usually in the form of traps (roach hotels), etc., instead of spraying 'stuff' all over. Garages tend to get a little more spraying treatment but they are a lot more open to the outside the the rest of the interior of your house. Their contracts tend to say 'pest control' without specifying outside or inside - just ask to make sure it includes the entire package, even if they never have to come 'inside your home' to work.
