Default Can anyone recommend a good company to replace worn out pool equipment?

Our pool service company says we need a new salt cell and unfortunately we are not at our Villages home, so I can’t take care of this easy task myself. The cell is a little over seven years old, so I don’t doubt it needs replacing, it’s at the end of its expected life. I am seeing at least 5 places online that sell the exact OEM cell replacement needed for $899 with free shipping. It takes less than 5 minutes to unscrew the two couplings holding the cell in place, unplug the wiring harness, and pop in the new cell. Our pool service company (fully knowing we aren’t there) wants $1,400 to replace the cell, which is total price gouging. I could order the cell, fly to our Villages home, pay for a shuttle, replace the cell, make the return trip back north, and still save $$.

I don’t mind paying a little premium for good service, but I can’t stand a business trying to take advantage of us. Any recommendations for a good, and reasonably priced, repair company would be greatly appreciated.

That price is not "price gouging"...

If you can do it cheaper, then do it yourself.

Of course, you don't have to pay employees, maintain trucks, pay insurance, or any of the other fees associated with running a business...

When they tested the cell, did it completely fail or only half? For a time there were defective cells, that only half of cell worked. We got one of those at initial install. We had to add chlorine for 7 weeks waiting for the back order cell. Pool stay clear.

Is it possible to just add chlorine until you return? Or will it be too long.
