i'm also wanting to do this, remove the carpeting, because its much easier to keep the floors clean. the 2 dogs shed & we track things in a high traffic area. with flooring all i have to do is run a dust mop then damp mop.

We had the carpet removed in the house we bought. We went with luxury vinyl plank and used VGM Professional Flooring PROFESSIONAL FLOORING – Call for a FREE estimate 352-391-3855.
Vincent and Michael were complete professional in every step of the way. The price was great and they had just what we wanted. The crew was great and the job was done when promised and to our satisfaction. The best complement I can give Vinny and Mike is that my brother-in-law hired them to put luxury vinyl planking over the tile in his entire house. My brother-in-law is very particular about the work done in his house and he was completely satisfied. VGM has been working in the area over 10 years and has great reviews. We are pleased and highly recommend. (and no this is not a paid advertisement.... we just love the work they did!!)

I would not use engineered wood floors. They ding and scratch easily as I have some in my house in NJ.

Because we had a dog we install the luxury vinyl. She is no longer with us but I am glad I got it. She was not the only one who spilled on the floor.

We ditched the carpet for laminate. Very easy upkeep. You lose the sound deadening qualities of carpet, but now Alexa playing music sounds like a concert hall.

Our installer was East Coast Flooring. They did excellent work.

I personally prefer the real thing, but that doesn't seem to be a thing down here. We did remove what carpet that was remaining in the preowned house we purchased. They had put down stuff in many rooms that couldn't tolerate water AT ALL! That product (thank goodness) was no longer available, so we didn't have to feel guilty about upgrading to a better product

Builders grade carpets begins to mat down on traffic lines pretty quickly. Even regular cleaning won’t remove that.
