Florida requires a five year degree. Being an old timer coming from NY I was required to have a four year degree in accounting and work for a cpa firm for three years,

The five year degree has no work requirement. So a Florida CPA can practice without having done an audit or a tax return.

With the major shortage of accountants many states are considering going back to a four year degree and requiring 1 year with a CPA.

Want a great job? a forensic accountant CPA is in great demand as an independent accounting investigator . .
a FL CPA friend would be excellent, except he is afraid to put out his own shingle, as well as he is very financially
set not having kids. . .

Yes, changed. Calculator and Excel now allowed.

Also, allowed to take one part at a time at a testing center virtually year around.

My husband is a practicing CPA in business for over 40 years. A college degree is definitely a requirement to sit for the CPA exam. When he sat for it the requirement was a 4 yr degree. Now a 5th year is required.
