Default Sales Tax in Florida

We have had two bids to have hardwood floors installed in our home. One says he has to charge us sales tax; the other one says there is no sales tax. Does anyone know what the law says?

If their business is registered in the State of Florida, you must pay sales tax. Some operate under the table or from another State. I'd stay away from those unless they are your best friends

I own a Landscaping business and Fla. Dept. of Revenue told me that as a landscaper that I was making improvements to "Real Property" and not to charge sales tax. The property would increase in value when it was reasessed by the county. In your case, I would say that you wouldpay sales tax because it is an improvement on your home instead of the property. In Landscaping we have some companies that charge tax but do not pay it in because it is not required.
