Default Sewing machine repair

Has anyone found a good local repairman? I just started on a large sewing project and my machine is acting up. I examined it and found a cog that has thrown some teeth. I could try to figure out how to remove it myself but if a repairman is nearby, it would save me the trouble of tracking down the part, etc.
It's a Singer Golden Touch and Sew Model 750. It's only about 40 years old. Why don't they build things to last anymore??? ;-D

try calling Al's Sewing Machine and Vacuum 352 751-0369

I have used him for our vacs and he has done this for 40 yrs experience.

He may remember your model at that rate.

He is a villager and works out of his garage.

Thanks, Gomer.
Gracie, I am doing 10' long lined draperies for the guest bedroom. With the lining they are very heavy. I found the fabric that matches the comforter so I bought enough to make drapes and throw pillows. Then my machine goes kaput.
