While at Southern Lifestyles the other day I did hear one of the sales people say that Fidelity is moving into a section of the store at LSL.

A Fidelity office? I think that would be a really good addition to TV.
Although........ Several years ago I was in the office of one of those investment places. I was probably taking one of those free classes I used to love to take. (still do) There was a great big ticker mounted high on the wall in the waiting area. This was so long ago that it was before the days of the 24/7 onslaught of media attention to the stock market. I admit that I was staring at that ticker while I waited. Watching all those stocks go by. Mesmerizing. It had pretty lights. (How pathetic am I? So easily amused and I like to take boring classes.) Anyway, later I was talking to one of the people who worked there about how I could not help staring at that giant ticker. That's when he said that there was an office somewhere in Florida where "all the old retired guys" (his words) met up every morning and sat around eating donuts and drinking coffee and watching the ticker and talking about stocks and generally having a big ol' time. He told me that he heard those guys pretty much took over the place until finally the decision was made to take the ticker down. Geez. How dumb was that? Did they not know their market? Somebody working there needed to turn those guys into clients if they were not already. Heck. Make 'em take a class. Sign those guys up. They would have liked it I bet. And can you imagine how sad and rejected those guys felt when they showed up one morning only to find their beloved ticker was gone. Poor things. I hope they did not give up on the stock market. Oh well, they probably reconvened at Hooters for further discussion. I have always thought TV would be a great place for Scottrade or Fidelity to open an office.I hope Sumter Landing gets that Fidelity office. If Fidelity opens, I wonder if they will have a ticker. I will check when I am there. But I will not make the coffee. Boomer Last edited by Boomer; 09-15-2010 at 10:24 PM. |
